So they started a new show with the same release strategy. Does that mean Denki Gai and Yuki Yuna sold well? Or at least well enough?

Honestly, I would forgive these kinda expensive releases (considering how early they are releasing them) if they release a reasonably priced edition down the line (like maybe a year after all the singles are released). I mean hell, the company is still new, so its a possibility that's what they have in mind. I ain't bankin on it though.

Even if they just put the shows they dubbed on Netflix or Hulu like Aniplex sometimes does, I'd be a little more cool with them

They are killing with with releasing the first vol of something new the same day as the last volume of their previous release. I REALLY enjoyed Etotama but may have to delay my purchase now, as the last vol of
Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! drops same day. Bad enough I am doing that for Yuki Yuna 3 and Cute High 1. Dunno if my wallet/sanity can take it for a 2nd time.

Rokka sub only -sigh- Anime cry there goes the "We plan to dub this along with 3 other titles" they stated in April. Though to be fair they did say that it was dependent on how well they perform and from what I read on ANN the blurays in japan sold very poorly and stream numbers were low but still its the 4th sub only release in a row and they've only dubbed one thing so far Sad

Seems like they did add a slightly cheaper standard set for bluray and dvd as people were asking for that option so that's a plus for them.

Still no sign on Sound Euphonium yet but I have to think they are dubbing it now as Ponycan needs some kind of hit for them, besides Yuki Yuna which was a dual audio release which probably sold decently for them its been 4 sub only releases which were pretty niche based on the reactions of people I've seen.

Will just have to wait and see how Ponycan releases the 3 other titles they said they planned to dub but it's off to a not so great start unfortunately Sad

Like I said earlier, they better hope that Sound! Euphonium does gangbusters for them, because otherwise PonyCan ain't gonna be around much longer. The Aniplex style of pricing only works if you've got Aniplex-level hits under your belt, and so far PC simply doesn't have the "killer apps" needed to keep them afloat. Yuki Yuna may have sold a few copies here and there, but Denki-Gai and Magical Boys bombed over here, Rokka and Etotama don't seem to be gathering the necessary attention, and just judging from the first episode alone, Lance & Masques sure as HELL ain't gonna be the show that brings in the bucks.

It's starting to look more like "PonyCAN'T" at this point. Cool

If Ponycan's now offering vanilla versions of Rokka, then why didn't they bother doing this with their earlier releases? Would have made it less unsettling to consider buying their titles for the hefty prices they're offering single volumes for.

@Ggultra2764

Probably because they found out the hard way that the earlier titles had a very limited market without a standard edition. I'm fairly sure I saw a news article where they said that there would be no standard editions at any time.

Sometimes reality provides a corrective action. The standard edition is still pricey but not beyond consideration.
