Picked up Michiko and Hatchin SAVE Blu-Ray today from FYE. I had no idea of when or if TRSI was going to place the LE Part 1 or Part 2 combo packs on sale (which was the release I actually wanted because the artbox looked damn cool) plus who knows how long I may have to actually collect this series because I don't know how Manglobe's bankruptcy would affect the series here in the US. It was on sale for $18 and I really didn't think I could pass it up. Also it's been awhile since I bought any anime... recently I had to try and sell a few things because my parents have temporarily lost their home due to a fire and we had to help replace the things they lost as they needed them now for their current place. So buying this felt really good!
In addition I picked up some Free! buttons from Hot Topic to send to my friends as part of their Christmas gift. They're huge fans of the series (although I have no real interest in it) so I figure they'll enjoy it. I'm hoping sometime next month I'll be able to place an order on TRSI from their sale. I'm just kinda waiting to see if some more of the manga I'm interested in will be added (like a few more of the CLAMP omnibuses to replace my originals). I'm also waiting to see if my husband will get a Christmas bonus (which he said he likely will) as any extra funds from his checks will be going towards other things... like Christmas gifts for other people. :p |

I am gonna buy SO much at the comic shop sunday! 60% off, man! But I still stopped by today (against my wiser judgement) because omfg, all the manga that I needs! So I limited myself to just buying the ones that they didn't have multiple copies of. So I can get Vinland Saga 6 on Sunday for example (and tons of other things, including American comics). I also made a note of what they didn't have so I can get that on rightstuf if it falls on sale there (which has given me the go ahead to get One Punch Man on there). But, for today (which was still a respectable 50% off), I got:

Interesting week with the Christmas sales and all.
Tuesday I received from TRSI: Sketchbook Full Color's DVD Genshiken: Second Season volume 7 manga. Wednesday I received from the comic shop: Manga: Haven't you Heard, I'm Sakamoto volume 2 MushokuTensei Jobless Reincarnation volume 1 My Little Monster volume 11 My Neighbor Seki volume 5 Oh My Goddess! omnibus volume 2 Sacred Blacksmith volume 9 UQ Holder volume 6 Yamada Kun & the Seven Witches volume 5 I also received a cancellation notice for the Kizumonogatari novel with no indication that it would be re-solicited. Saturday I received from TRSI: Umi Monogatari DVD (based on ShawnK's recommendation) Blood Lad DVD/Blu-ray complete series Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet DVD/Blu-ray complete series Dragonar Academy Limited Edition Bluray/DVD Chaika The Coffin Princess season 1 Blu-ray. Both Blood Lad and Gargantia were Christmas sale pick-ups. For me these were marginal titles. Viz's price was near twice for the Blu-ray as for the DVD. I found myself unwilling to accept the DVD version with a Blu-ray available and unwilling to pay the inflated Blu-ray price. Probably not a rational approach. Fortunately the sale got them into acceptable pricing for a pick up. I found the first Oh My Goddess omnibus volume worth the double dip (actually the fourth or fifth version for parts). It is in a larger trim size than the unflipped edition, has much better paper and includes all the color pages. It does not have Carl Horn's notes unfortunately. |

I spent the same amount of manga and American comics btw, for those curious. These are all trade paper backs, no issues for me. Although I did buy my first ever superhero comic! Only because of the author.... and the fact that the character doesn't have 30-60 years worth of bs for me to pretend to know.
