I'm strapped for time so I'll just copy and paste what I wrote on the Zannen forum.

My guess is that Viz is late in delivering the tapes. Keep in mind that despite the fact that the show was clearly listed on the original fall schedule and was retroactively added to YTV's fall press release, the station has yet to give any indication that they've received any visual materials for Death Note. No web promos or commercials have been seen, and the series hasn't even been given a microsite, suggesting that YTV hasn't received so much as a media package for the series. The TV schedule listings not only lacked an episode title, but were also mistakenly designated as "children's" (the only Bionix anime to do so), suggesting that the listing was kind of thrown together as a placeholder.

But hey, at least Eureka seveN has an encore slot again.

Yes, God forbid a great anime series be recognized and enjoyed by people other than yourself. Rolling Eyes

Please, try to think about all the people who haven't seen this series who, and this is only a slim possibility, might disagree with your view that the series will be/has been ruined. Try to understand that you are not actually the sole audience of the series and that, again this only a slim possibility, the creator might actually want people other than you to see it.

Hmm, this is interesting. Are the afraid that the dub is gonna suck or something? Rolling Eyes

I'm kidding, of course, but I really am interested in finding out why they pulled Death Note. It would be great for DN to get more exposure.

That just made my day Smile

It is a bit strange that it has been pulled, but it also was strange to begin with that YTV would be the first to air Death Note, even before any network in the States.

Maybe Deathnote is too intense for Canadian TV ,but I doubt that.

Canadian TV brought us Degrassi, which is sometimes edited in the States. Also, though a bit OT, most of the R rated movies in the States are dropped down to AA in Canada, so I doubt that that's the issue, because we seem to be more easy-going here about such things.

Maybe after the mislabeling that realized what they were about to show.
I thought YTV was a childerns programming network- because she their logo (purple tv w/ green letters right?) is shown at the end of several kids tv shows.

But they also show shows like Eureka 7 and Bleach. Plus with a name like Death Note you would think they would have checked it out before hand.

Alright now I'm pissed, it was one show I was looking forward to this fall. I guess it'll be along time before it airs here.

Their afraid Canada is gonna be flooded with stupid looking L cosplays. Laughing

Seriously, either Viz is too busy trying to milk Naruto and forgot about Death Note, or maybe they just got a delay that couldn't be helped.

YTV stands for Youth Television, IIRC, so you are right, it is a network aimed mostly at a younger audience. However the later showings, which Death Note was going to be a part of, are definitely for older viewers.

I'm pissed off that Death Note is removed from YTV. And to add insult to injury, they replace it w/ repeat Inu-Yusha series. They've been showing Inu-YAsha reruns for 1-2 years already!

Oh well, I guess I have to resort to watching fine anime programs in YTV such as Idaten Jump, Battle B'Daman, and Beyblade (Shows that are just cheap ploys for merchandising rather than a good storyline)
