What the fanfic author said on her Twitter account:

1) The CD will be available in Amazon US.
2) It's not yaoi, but just a friendship story (I'm not sure if this is referring to the original fic or to the drama CD).

Yeah yeah yeah, that's what they all say!

Alright...who here actually read the story and know the details?

I know its rated "T" and nothing much else, so its probably like a 12 or 15 type of rating. Maybe some hugs and/or kisses at best. In the depths of my heart, I honestly wouldn't mind a SasNaru hug.

"BRUH!"
"Naru!!"

Oh man, cue the Fifty Shades of Grey jokes that will come out of this!

If they make an anime out of this then we can definitely now have an anime equivalent to that piece of crap and I am so betting that Studio Pierrot will so want to make this to make Shippudden even more unnecessarily longer than it is suppose to!

So you're saying there's hope for To The Stars? Though after looking at that Madoka concept movie I feel like at least one person at SHAFT has already read it.

So someone explain how this is worse than either Naruto filler story's or some of the dross that gets published as 'original' light novels or visual novels?

Okay, but how did this happen? I heard the story of how that Twilight fanfic became 50 Shades (because the author was a part of a popular Twilight forum), but how did that particular fanfic gain enough attention to become a drama CD featuring the original voices of the characters? I don't get it...

By the way, has anyone else read that fanfic? I have hope for the drama CD itself, but the fic... Not very well-written.

You people are so, so salty. Laughing

First of all, ANN is wrong, it's not yaoi. It is not BL. It's just very subtext heavy. The source material was not explicit, either.

This drama CD has full permission from the author (@thecrapdealer on twitter).

And trying to relate it to that shitty false-BDSM fic? lmao... You guys are so desperate to reject this.
The original fic is actually good, and again, it has no sex in it. It's romance.

In an interview, Junko was already reluctant to lend her voice for The Last. I mean really, they've been queerbaiting us SasuNaruSasu fans for 15 years, the least we deserve is this.

The author of the fic had been suffering from bronchitis and what seems to have been depression. They were in a really bad place, and a friend who was their light was the catalyst for making this happen.

And honestly you're kidding yourselves if you don't think Kishimoto doesn't already own the CD. /laughs.

I read the fic and it's not that great. I'm sorry that the author was in a rough place and good for them and all, but it's not a great fic. It's not even a good fic. It's just okay.

I think if you think of it as a DRAMA CD you'll realize having a heavy and in depth plot isn't necessary since the story will not be just read but rather told through voice? I think that's why they chose it, because it makes for a nice script.

I hope nobody misconstrues this as homophobic but what is going on here? A fanfiction getting a Japanese drama CD? Is this a modern update of one of the signs that the apocalypse is on it's way? I doubt that any of my ideas for "Naruto" fanfiction would ever get something like that. A couple of ideas I have is called "Naruto and the Girls,"a bunch of adventures Naruto has with the kunoichi or the female ninjas of his village and other villages and "Naruto in America,"in which Naruto and his friends have some adventures in the United States.
Heck,I'd be lucky if I got even a comment on any fanfiction I wrote. But,I'm not even registered on a fanfiction site so those ideas I have are going to stay in my head...for now.

It's romance between two dudes. For most of fandom, that qualifies as yaoi. The article never implies it's explicit.

I know these terms mean different things depending on who you ask (mostly in regards to sex content) but to most, they're interchangeable for 'gay male romance.'

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) *twitches*
First of all, "yaoi" is a term that in its actual meaning is used to refer to M/M porn without plot smut doujinshi (unofficial works). Western fandoms then appropriated the term to refer to explicit BL works. In Japan, people don't really use the term yaoi anymore. They just refer to their doujinshi by pairing, or "coupling" as they say it. What the rest of the world has wrongly misappropriated (don't even get me started on the term "bara") is completely irrelevant.
The term "yaoi" itself is an acronym that means "no climax, no point, no meaning". Meaning PWP smut.

Secondly, take No.6 for example, which is gay as hell. The anime actually even TONED DOWN the BL subtext a lot. It is not yaoi. It is not even BL. The series is shoujo. And the manga is also published in Aria, a shoujo magazine.

As a big news site, ANN shouldn't be misusing misappropriated terminology.

I'll take the words of 10+ year fans I've been acquainted with over yours, thanks. Rolling Eyes I never even said that it was my opinion. It was an aggregation of the general consensus of people I trust. I myself haven't finished it yet.
