Anne-Happy

Genres:: Comedy, School, Slice of Life
Themes::

Plot Summary: Tennogofune Academy's is a home for students with "negative karma," otherwise known as misfortune. The school's class 1-7 has collected students burdened with negative karma. Hibari finds her first day of school ends in bad luck. Hanako noticeably suffers from poor health. Together, the two unlucky high school students might find their school life will become a "blessing."
----------------------------------

Episode 1:
While it wasn't too impressive, I find the comedy to be rather cute and funny for the first episode.

Apparently, there's a theme in this show to turn misfortune into happiness. I got the impression that the girls are quite happy though, at least most of them. Hanako is my favorite character so far from this series.

[EDIT: Changed the thread title to be consistent with the official English name. - Key]

This was amusing, for me enough jokes hit there marks that throughout I had a decent smile.

Man I really wish Botan would just shut the hell up. Not only do her lines drag, her voice makes sure to deliver everything insufferably, which I'm sure is the point, but doesn't make it any less insufferable. Can't say I laughed at any point in this first episode, though I do like Anne at least. Disappointed that this seems sub-par for now, as I was actually looking forward to this, off the premise.

Episode 1

Oh, it is a Silver Link comedy, well I am interested. Cute girls doing cute things is nice, I liked the first episode, but as of yet I would not say that there was a lot of punch. I think the most effective moment for me was when Botan described herself as creepy and thanked them for not reporting her.

So far it kind of reminds me of a mix of Acchi Kocchi, Is the Order a Rabbit, and a touch of Sakura Trick (minus yuri, so far).

How enjoyable it might be from here feels more up to execution.

Episode 2

Looks like Anne might be so unlucky that her luck goes back around to being kind of good. Like going to a vending machine and getting spicy drinks (not even advertised), only for them able to not be too bad, that a little bit of bad luck is still an experience.

There is some pretty conspicuous CG, it makes Timothy especially stand out, although possibly part of the point of being a robot. And there was that chase scene, which I tend to enjoy those sort of scenes where a series throws us down CG hallway giving us depth of the space.

Kind of enjoying some of the dark humour thrown in every so often, like the teacher's response of specialising in eating them if asked if she likes animals. And the pets.

Episode 3:

Best episode yet imo this week. A game competition with cosplay, yuri vibes, and a mysterious cliffhanger! Ugh, it had to end there...looking forward to see what that "punishment" will be.

Those little outfits (squid, bunny, bear) etc...oh my heart.

Ep 3
Hey look, Anne-Happy just became Kiznaiver, except I enjoyed the events on screen because as a viewer I at least have interest in the characters!

This was a great way to add more to the cast, it was also amusing how the show manages to turn "sex appeal" costumes presented more in a "simple cute" manner.

Episode 3

So not only is that girl got terrible sense of direction, but she is also in love with her best friend, who does not show much emotions.

Also, just might be just my imagination but the one music that started playing in the bread eating race sounded a bit like Gourmet Race (Kirby song), not exactly like it but just something about it that makes it feel tonally similar.

She broke her teeth on bread. Laughing

Today's episode was delightfully gay. So sweet, so cute. Hibiki even (almost) said she was in love with Ren!

And even in such an episode poor Botan suffers. Crying or Very sad

Episode 8
That was... THE BEST episode so far.
Visual references across the board and an overall hilarious episode.

The virtual duel was just a fun experience overall.

The whole virtual/augmented rpg thing was very fun. I thought things like Timothy being an annoying little fairy were good. Also the teacher being censored with cute sounds.

and finished, this was a cute piece with over the top humor, I was amused by the Gundam 0083 reference and thoroughly enjoyed the general antics of the cast.

i've got to say that this series was a surprise for me since i didn't find the first ep done well at all.

but as the series goes on i found that it was pretty decent if the genre hadn't place comedy first since although there were funny moments the bulk of the show actually has a progressive story-line more suited for a drama.

and the most surprising part is how competently the action/dynamic scenes and CGI are done in this series where some action/adventure series just couldn't even do it right.

and the best part of the series IMO goes to the timothy rap.

I really enjoyed the straight-forward girl group stuff with the gimick of the unlucky traits but for some reason I simply could not get into the damn competition stories. They all came off as sadistic, counter-intuitive, unfair, and irritating. I know it was all about comedy and fun but I still kept looking for a hint of a point to them and, in relation, a point to the entire happiness class itself. I mean, really, an ENTIRE season and not even a hint of what they're all doing there? My god, even the cluster$%&* known as The Asterisk War makes more sense than this simple little comedy.
