Congratulations to the happy couple! I noticed that they both kept the gender of the child out of their post. I'm glad that they are maintaining some privacy in their lives. Good for them! I'm also glad that she is planning on returning to her profession when she is able. There is no reason why she shouldn't be able to do the same type of work she used to just because she is married with a child. More power to her!
(And the way the talk about each other really does sound sweet.) |

Quite the age gap, business as usual.

Congrats to both for a healthy child. May the wee one give them both heaven and hell for many years to come.

Could someone explain me why this site even reports such news? Someone gets married, someone gets pregnant, child is born, who cares? Western fandom?
I understand "if you are not interested, don't click the article", but I wonder also why this type of news even start to circulate? Why that guy felt there is a need to publicly announce the event? |

Because some people are interested in such things.
I am not sure that you do understand it.
This is just something that people do. Normal, ordinary people announce births. I always saw a lot of birth announcements in local newspapers, back when I still read newspapers. I would expect such things to increase with the use of social media on the Internet. However, I do live in the US so I really do not know if it is common in Japan. |

In Japan where this information originates, both parents are at least minor celebrities. He is a well known manga author and she is a professional cosplayer. In Western Fandom, Fujishima is the author of some of the best known manga to make it here. His Oh My Goddess! is one of the two series that got me into manga and anime nineteen years ago and I still read his stuff. The fact that she is beautiful and he is more than twice her age just makes the story more interesting. |

to their friends and family... not in the TV I find it quite bizarre that the site dedicated to Japanese media busies itself with celebrity bullshit news. Voice actress announcing divorce, seriously? I understand it may interest some people but there are celebrity sites for that. I would personally prefer the site I frequent used up its resources on a content related to its supposed objective or at least on something a little less mundane. |

@Naera
It is not as if the interest items are pushing anything out. The site reports all the news that becomes available and adds the interest items for anyone who wishes to view them. As you noted above, you don't have to read them if you don't want to. Obviously a certain percentage of the people viewing the site like them, read them and comment on them. The site wouldn't post the interest items if no one liked them. I really fail to see why this should bother you so much. I don't care for games, so I don't click on articles about them. I'm not about to tell others that are interested in games that they can't have such articles because they spoil the purity of my anime site. Your attitude is rather selfish. |

Even though it has been pointed out already it's an interest piece. Which are lighter fare than regular news articles and not always for an actual anime topic. If you're not interested then don't read it and don't post in the thread. Read and post on topics and news articles that you do care about. Quite simple. I really have to shake my head at the handful of posters who constantly feel the need to read and then complain about articles that do not interest them in the slightest. Seriously, if it does not interest you, whether it's an interest piece or a bonafide news article or column, why bother reading it? It's not like anyone from ANN came to your house, held you at a gunpoint, tied your family up, and then made you read it. We prefer more subtle methods of coercion. So unless you have anything to actually add to the topic, besides complaining that the article itself exists, I would request you just move on to a different topic that you do actually have an opinion on. Thank you. |
