Do you think he actually likes it, or is he just trying to get Anno's goat?

I mean, he could actually like it, but this is Tomino, and he doesn't like much. Laughing

I think he does, Tomino likes war stuff that goes beyond we wuz innocents and nationalism.

Which is why he hates writers like Fukui that very clearly get a boner over imperial Japan like he's shown in every series he's wrote.

If I made something that he or Miyazaki praises, I'd feel like I've failed. One continues to make anime for the wrong reasons and the other has a hair up his butt and makes a personal issue over a (poorly made) CGI zombie creature thing.

It's always pleasant to hear that Tomino actually quite enjoyed something.
