I thought this movie was good. Definitely was fun and even though my wife wasn't much of a fan of SAO, she said it was enjoyable for the most part. I'm glad to hear it earned over a million in the opening weekend. This brings me hope to see other anime films hit theaters more often, even for a fathom event.

I wish this would have played more then once here. I didn't get a chance to see it do to work. Sadly unless they add more theaters the dub won't be playing anywhere near me. Same with your name.

The film was good. It would have done way better if it had played on a weekend rather than a Thursday but oh well, the theater I was in was packed anyway. I'll keep checking for the dub list, hopefully they add more cities.

It would have gotten more if people could actually go see it.

Wish I could have seen it. Had tickets at one of the local AMCs for it along with a friend. Got there and they told us and the other theater worth of people that were there to see it that it was canceled for lack of ticket sales. According to their reserved seating ticket ordering interface on Fandango there were a total of 9 unfilled seats (not including handicap). After pressing the manager further with that information it turns out that they canceled it over a month prior and didn't bother to tell anyone while continuing to sell seats for it up until the time of the show. Needless to say, that was a bad night to be the manager at that theater.

For a (mostly) one-night showing of an anime that isn't Dragon Ball? Absolutely.

This is proof at why anime releases are important and shouldn't be super niche.

Wow this news is great. I hope SAO can beat Kimi no na wa too.
Anyway if you want to know when SAO will end, then just watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3KHhyxQG8g. Finally, we got the answer from Reki Kawahara.

If we had more theaters showing it and ran ads on major networks like NBC/CBS/FOX/ABC, then we might get more people to see it.
