It's an adaptation they were never going to realistically have a dwarf or someone really short play Koichi especially as Koichi's size is irrelevant to the character anyway.

Koichi is actually not a midget, he's like 1.60 which is obviously not tall but not 7 year old tier either.

It's just Araki doing weird stuff drawing him shorter than he should be.

i dont know about a dwarf but maybe i dont know.... some one shorter?
