This reminds me a bit of Liar Game, which sadly never got a release overseas. Color me intrigued!

The negatives make little sense to me. "Fanservice shoe-horned in"? This book has some of the most tame fanservice I've seen in a long time. Hey that's just me. The one thay really got me was "art too dark in some places". What? It's in black and white. I really don't understand that one. As an artist myself it boggles my mind.

What I meant was that the fanservice, although relatively tame, felt like it was not fully incorporated into the story, but rather thrown in to make the story racier. The art issue is that sometimes the details get lost, which may be the artist's intent, but made reading a little frustrating.

Oh. Okay. Thanks for the response. It makes a little more sense now...

I'm a fan of the mangakas work... They did a manga called shitsurakuen which was enjoyable, but more importantly, had heaps of crazy faces.
I love Kakegurui because the faces are so over the top. It's great when characters go from being really pretty to completely warped.

I need to go watch the anime and see the faces animated.

I've seen clips. They are as epic as they are over the top.

That explains so much about the vibe the review was giving off. Anime hyper I was a fan of that one, too, so now I have to look into this one.
