| My thoughts: Loli anime/manga/games will be protected as long as they bring in MONEY for Japan. (that really means......FOREVER). Doubt any damn thing can be done about it.....and I'm VERY pleased with that. | |||

| Well in a way it's right to ban CP in porn games/manga/anime if it's really clear that the characters involved in it are underage. For example the very realistic 3D child porn. Yeah, some call it petite or sh*t like that, but only an idiot can't see what's it all about.
But I enjoy my loli manga and doujinsh from time to time. I still like to see more of them coming, thank you. So I'm very biased about this whole situation. |

| How would one define what is "virtual child porn"?
I know that the Sofu-rin Hgame ratings union has already set rules stating that hgames cannot involve characters under the age of 18. All this does is games instead of having [enter name] High School, they just have [enter name] Academy and they never state the ages of the characters. Or how about a 1000-year old fairy who looks 10? Or an alien who has undetermined age, but looks 10? You get what I mean? Any attempt to ban "virtual child porn" is pointless and will probably end up being too ambiguous and over-reaching. I don't see a point - as long as no real people are involved, I say just let it be. And I don't buy the "lolicons will be tempted to rape children in real life" argument - Otaku have a very clear distinction when it comes to what they refer to as "san-jigen" (3D = real) and "ni-jigen" (2D = anime/cg). |

| All I know is in the US , it was found un-Constitional twice to ban it since there was no proof of it harming anyone, since it's not real people. Hopefully Japan will see it the same way or we'll end up with crappy loli and japan will lose moeny

Well, I think during the post WWII occupation it was the American occupation authority that pushed for Japan to ban pornography as a whole. This is why most commercial adult products will always have a mosaic on them for genitalia. Theoretically, when you have a complete ban on pornography you don't need another law underneath. You just have to enforce current laws. In any case, as a Libertarian I can say that people who produce child pornography, people who buy (and thus fund) child pornography and people who engage in coerced or forced acts with children should be prosecuted. But prosecution based solely on possession is another story. When you allow governments to start filtering the type of information people can possess, it's a very slippery slope (regardless if the information is tasteless). You set the precedent to start banning the viewing or possession of information of one illegal act and the possibilities are endless. The Islamist extremist crashing planes into the World Trade Center was as illegal as it gets, but we aren't banning the viewing of 911 footage just because it might "inspire" similar acts. Anyhow, drawings are lines on paper. They create the illusion of an object but it's purely fictional...I guess some people believe a magician really CAN pull a rabbit out of thin air from a hat...

| guess all those otakus can breathe lot easier now that loli are perfectly legal...
virtual child porns are one of those iffy issues because the creator can say even though the character LOOKS underage, they're 38 years old... but if i'm not mistaken, in US and Canada, if you're registered sex offender, virtual child porns are illegal to have....if they LOOK young, then they ARE young... i know few people in US got arrested for violating their parole because of possessing hentai videos.... |

Don't underestimate the power of an US ambassador. After visiting the (in)famous Yasukuni Shrine in 2006, Ambassador Schieffer made a personal comment on museum's plaque describing the attack on Pearl Harbor as Japan's self-defense "very disturbing," and the museum replaced the plaque immediately. |
