Uh...they must mean Target stores carrying their anime. Target has had anime on their shelves for quite some time now for those looking for GTO 1, Noir 1, the Cowboy Bebop Movie, Millennium Actress, the Animatrix, etc.

Yeah, Target does carry anime now. The one by my house has both Vampire Hunter Ds. X tv, Heat Guy J, and several others.

I never bothered to look for anime at the Target near me. Any idea how the prices will be on the Viz stuff? Usually Target sells stuff cheaper than other stores...

My boyfriend says that Target had anime for (quote) "less than Suncoast prices." (He bought me Hellsing 1 from Target. Anime hyper)

Yeah, Target has carried anime for several years now (DBZ and a couple other random titles here and there), but only since last October has Target really got into anime titles. As for prices I can't argue they're lower than the other retailers in town (snagged Jin-Roh for $19.99), plus I get an employee discount as well (manage the movie department). My only complaint is that the selection on some titles are the edited versions airing on CN, and I prefer the unedited versions so I have to go elsewhere anyway.

That sure beats the regular going price of thirty some dollars. Smile

Well, if you can't get it on sale, it's about $29.99 unless it's short or monolingual, then they knock off five bucks.

I work at Target, and have for over 3 years. During that time we've carried Armitron: Poly Matrix (either that or dual matrix, I don't remember).

The Animatrix.

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

Disney released Studio Ghibli films.

And recently now Heat Guy J (for $14.44).

Hopefully they will set more soon, because that would be great. A lot of Target stores just don't have room for a lot of DVDs, however. Our selection is not as good as Best Buy, who has rows and rows of Dvds and therefore can afford to carry more anime.

Um, anyway, now you know the inside truth.

Even $30 (or $29.99...whatever one cent differential you prefer...) for anime is cheap. For the US domestic market, it's a twisted joke to sell DVD's for that much, short of a ultra special edition. For those that have resided in Japan, you know of the one to three episode disc wonderfully priced at 6600 yen, or $62. That's for a brand new disc, of course, but the American market is a wonderful place for anime right now.

Don't you know? Armitron: PolyMatrix is about a geeky ronin who finds a magical girl watch in the trash. It lasted for over 50 episodes and was mostly fanservice. Very Happy
