| A little pricey for 96 pages...For that money, it better have more than just a couple psychoanalytic essays. Stonebridge also has some cajones to use that subtitle, without worrying about whether they'd get sued over that movie, and all... |

Huh? You mean the 2005 movie The Illusionist? Or the 2009 movie The Illusionist? Or maybe the 1984 film De Illusionist?
The word "illusionist" is far too generic a dictionary term to sue for even identical movie titles. Having "The Illusionist" as a subtitle for a clearly unrelated book is such a non-issue that a judge would laugh at even the whim of a lawsuit. |

| I hoped to had my thesis ready before the apearance of this book, but since my thesis director is such an idiot... Well, at least i'll be able to compare notes. |

I seem to have had this on pre-order for a very long time - checking back, I placed the order on 22nd January. But it does stagger me that I can import this from the States - including shipping and handling - for £3 ($6) cheaper than it is available here in the UK before postage and packing is added. But then I have never understood the intricacies of international economics. |

Well, just have to think that the dollar its pretty much crap right now, this whole week the Euro has ben rising 1 cent per day from 1.54... so by next week it'll probably break the 1.60 barrier making it hard to European markets to sell their stuff, but easier to buy it.
Yeps, economics its a rare art form. |

For the sake of completeness, I feel compelled to mention that there is another book on Oshii out there: "The Cinema of Mamoru Oshii: Fantasy, Technology and Politics" by Dani Cavallaro.
Unfortunately, for certain reasons, I can't really recommend it. |

Film Studies mostly, but I studied arts and computer animation. And since I think Satoshi Kon storytelling is very good decided to do my phd about his works.
