So all we get is a short!? It's better than nothing I guess, but there's certainly enough manga material left to produce a 65 episode or so TV series. But maybe they're using this short to see if the Inuyasha anime can still be a viable product amongst today's anime programs.

As much as I enjoyed Inuyasha for the five year run this series had on tv, I really do think that after this "short", Rumiko Takahashi should take a either a vacation or retire.

Thirty plus years of writing anime and manga must be exhausting, so one can't really fault someone if they wanted a vacation or retirement.

Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2 are classic, so as much as fans would like sequels and such, fans must understand that the final decision is up to the creator.

I'd say it was more possible than the new DBZ special that's coming out.

Yeah I'd like to see this, for nostalgia Smile

Im looking forward to see this in the future. Hopefully we won't have to wait very long to see it, that is if they bother to release it here in the states.

We'll see.... Wink

I agree with the idea that this is a kind of informal market test to see if there's life left in the IY franchise. If this "Ep. 168" generates a lot of interest, then prospects for a final season to complete the IY anime story greatly improve. But if this just drops dead, then we can kiss that possibility good bye.

The fact that they were able to assemble the original Japanese voice cast for this project is a positive indicator, I think, that some suits in Japan don't think the IY franchise is ready to be written off. (^_*)

Ah, very nice! I wonder if this special might make it stateside eventually? In any case, it sparks a bit of hope for me for at least some of the remainder of the manga to be animated. Time will tell, eh? =)

Wow! I can't wait! I love Inuyahsa, and Rumiko has been one of my favorite manga-ka's for as long as I can remember.

I wish I could go see that exhibit. Oh well.

I need to get the rest of the IY manga... it's been a few years since I read them...

But that being said, definitely looking forward to the new animated short. IY is one of my favorite series.

I agree, Inuyasha should have died out a long time ago. They got greedy with the series and thought it would go on forever, so they screwed themselves and never got to finish it.
