No, it wasn't announced before, it was rumored. Bloggers were taking an anonymous web tip and reporting it as "announced." This new blurb is the first actual announcement.

Well I suppose this does make it offical! I was skeptical of the rumors going around recently, because it's been nearly two years since the second season started up, and the director of the first two seasons, Sunao Katabuchi, is suppose to be working on a new film at Madhouse. [ LINK ]

The little bit of Black Lagoon that I saw was fun and I know it has a fan following that wants more, but I'm hoping that Sunao Katabuchi's new film wasn't canned in favor of having him come back and direct more of this show. Actually, maybe he could make time to sit in as a producer, episode director, or storyboarder.

Not much more to say right now. While we wait for more information, maybe I should go watch more of the original Black Lagoon! Cool

I thought Geneon was still handling production.

Also, although it seems likely that this will get picked up here since this has been aired on TV. Lets not put all our eggs in one basket. This is not an R1 announcement. And anything can happen. Especially these days.

This news made my day. More Black Lagoon is always an awesome thing. Now it just needs to be licensed, which will undoubtedly happen at some point in the future.
