Yeah. I don't dislike The Ocean Group, but there's no doubt in my mind that the game's cast was the winning one. |

It has more action, and is not drawn out (since its a movie  ), and it looks great too. |

I must be the weird one, then, because the writing and direction in the .hack//G.U. games was horrible. Stilted dialogue, wooden acting...I've even been reluctant to play Redemption simply because I don't want to put up with the crappy voicework.
.hack//Roots, on the other hand, had an excellent English dub, and it was one of the first that convinced me that the Canadian voice pool wasn't just the "cheapo squad". (Other notables would be Tetsujin #28 and Death Note, and it's worth noting that Mark Gatha not only single-handedly saved G Gundam from utter mediocrity, but he is the voice of Megaman X.) |

| It's funny that people forget and/or not realise that .hack//GU is the continuation of .hack//ROOTS. The anime came first and the game continued the story. In short, the anime was designed as a prequel to the game, which is another reason why the anime's ending was so open. However, it seems they rewrote some of the scenes from the game so that it can be better compiled into one animated chunk/movie. |

| The movie could have been SO much better...some parts were directly from the game, some never happened and were terrible, and some never happened but were REALLY cool..overall it was a huge disappointment to me so as a .hack fanatic this news unfortunatly did not grab my attention at all. (Though when I first saw the title it was misleading me to think an anime based of the movie was being made...for a minute I was asking were the creators out of their minds) |
