Excellent.

And that should sum up the thread.

well, I just hope that Bleach can make an impact, and congrats to Naruto, and Vampire Knight. This is what we need to make sure that manga can get onto the list, in what will soon become the end of Fruits Basket journey onto the list and all. In fact, there should be a new volume out this month. After that we'll only have two more to go.

I actually liked the volumes building to this one (28-30) over 31. But great to see Naruto doing well.

I wish One PIece, Negima, and Gintama would at least appear once on the list, and if at least at the very bottom.

Well, One Piece popularity is growing, the Funimation DVDs were #13 on the best-selling anime list for the first half of '08. So it's possible manga sales for it will grow, especially if Viz gains some sense and speeds up the slow release patten.

Never read Negima, so no comment, and Gintama is probably a series that won't start selling a lot until the anime is licensed and brought over (especially if it comes on TV).

Problem with One Piece is that it has catching up to do. Sometimes it takes a while to bring something back up to where it should have been, hence a particular licensing issue that abounded before Funi graciously picked it. As long as Funi can continue selling, it might bring popularity to the manga, though I don't see it happening for a while.

Is Naruto, Bleach, and Vampire Knights selling so well because of Wal-mart?

I doubt it. I mean, I've personally only seen manga at Wal-Mart Supercenters. But the $6 price no doubt helps as the books are right next to the checkout lines.

I thought they were $7.99 on the books? Or is that just at Wal Mart that they have the price lowered for everyone's convinience?

Wal-Mart is always cheaper on books. A Naruto manga price at Wal-Mart is around $6.76 (at least, that's how much it says on the price tags on mine).
