Entertaining strip as always -- insightful too. Honestly, I have never really picked up on this trend. I guess it's because fanservice is so deeply ingrained into anime that some fans don't even notice things like this.

I think the correct protocal for a vertical axis is two rapid slashes forming an X. His method is more appropriate given the target's attire, however, because you are also going for the skirt's waistline (his cut was high.) Something tells me Kevin could fill him in on the pointers.

PS - There's no way he could be an action star ... he's a southpaw.

Knives? Most of the stuff I've seen involves ripping with bare hands. Or, if a knife is used, slowly ripping just to emphasize what you're doing (i.e. let the camera focus on the chest longer).

But there's another role for women in action anime: the muscled, over-sexualized fighter! And if she has too many clothes at the beginning of the episode, the sharp weapons will take care of that...
