Man, he really had classics under his belt. I hope he can rest in peace. I'm sure his family will be okay.

I've seen a number of his works, but the one that had me glued to the TV was Mysterious Cities of Gold as it ran on Nickelodeon in the '80s.

RIP.

Wow. The Mysterious Cities of Gold was the very first anime series I watched religiously. Looks like he was responsible for some greats. May he rest in peace.

Aww man. All the greats are passing away. I'll forever cherish the great anime titles he's had a hand in over the years. May his soul rest in peace.

This is truly sad. I love Gatchaman, Anime cry R.I.P Hisayuki. He didn't even live long enough to see the animated film they were making.

I ordered Area 88 a few days ago. I suppose I'm now aware of how much titles like that are worth treasuring.

Zin5ki: That OVA is great, and set off my lifelong love of Area 88.

RIP.

Aww, that really sucks. I enjoyed Gatchaman and Mach Go Go Go in their US incarnations of G-Force and Speed Racer quite a bit. Those shows were really awesome, and I know they probably inspired or influenced a lot of the shows produced today. He seems to have had a really outstanding track record.

Another great anime pioneer, that had a hand in creation of some of Tatsunoko's seminal works like Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, Space Knight Tekkaman (incidentally I finished watching Space Knight Tekkaman Blade and Blade II last week), Hurricane Polimar and Speed Racer/Mach Go! Go! Go! has passed to the Great Anime Studio in the heavens, Hisayuki Toriumi RIP! Anime cry

Seems funny if they would air Dallos at all on Special Delivery. MCoG was a quintessential program on Nickelodeon. I only more anime had trickled onto "The First Network for Kids" besides a few that may've aired on the aforementioned Special Delivery, as well as Belle & Sebastian and the Nick Jr. stuff.

I always wanted to see the complete Gatchaman, and I believe ADV did a release of the full series a few years ago, but I wasn't able to sort out the volumes of the series because there's multiple releases apparently (not to mention that the results on Amazon turn up BOTH US brands, Battle of the Planets and G-Force, adding to the confusion). Anyone who can give a brother a hand, here?
