The music by Hikaru Nanase reminds me of his Noein tracks and sounds really great.

The anime itself will suck for sure as it is by BeeTrain and director Mashimo. Don't misunderstand me but it would really be a wonder if Mashimo actually produced something good nowadays.

Oh my god, i so agree. The title and synopsis sounds pretty interesting, but why Bee Train and Mashimo? I still don't forgive him the fudge up that is Tsubasa. I can mostly ignore Noir and Madlax, it wasn't as terrible as everyone makes it out to be ( I can withstand flashbacks better than most people I know, but even Noir got on my nerves after a while).

The visual novel was such a failure in America. The MA tag also embarrassed people off (since only pr0n "choose your own adventure" DVDs routinely get that tag). Laughing

Actually, all Japanese hentai games get the "Adults Only", not "Mature", rating from the ESRB. Anyone who assumes "Mature" automatically means hentai isn't very well informed.

Phantom of Inferno actually sold pretty well for a visual novel, from what I've heard elsewhere, even if still nowhere near as much as originally expected.

In any case, I actually will give this animated adaptation a chance. At least a TV series should be more true to the game than the OVA.

Not talking about hentai but live-action pr0n. I think "Adults Only" is even worse. Laughing

If you've read the manga, the anime just can't measure up, because it loses the intricate detail of Samura's work.

In the meantime, this trailer is higher def than my ancient computer can play, so I'll have to look at it later. If the plot is the same as in the OVA, then it sounds a little like Noir.

Why BEE TRAIN? Simple, they make their stuff look good. Not to mention this is very much their forte after doing NOIR MADLAX and El Cazador de la Bruja. For a 11 year old studio they've put out some pretty good stuff and they have further to go in the years to come.

I thought Tsubasa was a good anime but that's just my opinion. Didn't like Blade of the Immortal too much as it was pretty sloppy even for them. .hack// is my favorite by them.

I might as well say I won't watch anything by Mad House because I didn't like Millennium Actress, or I won't watch anything by Production I.G because of the Weathering Continent and another handful of lousy animes.

The ignorance here is always astounding

I'd imagine that it's because of strong American sales (Noir). As a new turning point after ten years, Nitro+ aims to gain overseas fans, and we can see it in their choice of animation studios.

Neither Gonzo nor Bee Train is particularly popular with Japanese otaku, but the success of both in the US is undeniable.

Director aside, why the hate for Bee Train? They've done excellent work. I do agree though that Blade of the Immortal was a step down, but other than that, they've always produced nice work. El Cazador was fantastic (and one the few animes with real closure).

Its because most of their shows are extremely slow-paced in nature.

Ok so can anyone tell my why Japan seems to worship IE/Microsoft. I understand IE has a much larger market share and yes there are US websites that are incompatible with other browsers but why is it Japanese websites have to lock out other browsers (now I know that's a broad statement and other websites allow it, but Japanese sites is one of the few that I know that consistenly lock out non-IE browsers). Luckily I have IETab.

As for the trailer, I'm a bit disappointed. While the hi-res of it pretty much makes it a choppy video (kind of reminded me of the visual novel), getting to see the characters was disappointing. The look of the characters is so much different that the Game/OVA. While it was a horrible bastardization of the game (technically the first chapter), the OVA had good visuals with character designs that were consistent with the game. One of the nice things about even the OVA, Ein was a cold emotionless assassin. It makes it all the better when you see the softer side of her (even when it was faked). The new look for her (as well as the other characters) makes her seem so much softer and no where near her game/OVA counterpart.

If ANN's encyclopedia is correct, none of the original game or OVA cast is returning, which to me is another sign of problems. While its disturbing to think of Belldandy as one of the heads of syndicate of assassins, Kikuko Inoue did a great job as Claudia, as did Ai Orikasa as Lizzy. If this new cast doesn't work out, I may have to wait for the dub (and hopefully Media Blasters won't do it).

At this point, I don't really expect any of my faults with this to change. I can only hope that when I get to see the actual anime, I'm wrong about everything said here. I'd be glad to be wrong. Mostly they better not screw up with Cal spoiler[ specifically Drei!]. She was my favorite character of the game and was disappointed she wasn't actually in the OVA.

I don't know how well the slow pace will work with new Phantom fans, however fans of the game probably wouldn't mind the slow pace. Hell the game takes 15 hours just to get 1 ending. If Bee Train makes 26 episodes out of this, they've managed to cut off more than 2 hours. I'm assuming the first 1-2 hour gun tutorial will be the first thing to go.

Then that makes it even less well informed, since actual pornography shouldn't be confused with the ratings the ESRB gives for games.

It's all about perception. Confused
