That certainly is surprising, now if they can just release some DVDs with uncut footage, I might just buy them.

I'm really hoping that this'll also lead to other properties they still have being released uncut. Still, I wonder why they didn't include subtitles on the videos... Maybe they meant to include it using Captions and simply forgot to enable or upload them?

I guess we can only wait and see.

What could possibly have been cut from a show about children playing a card game?

Guns, for example. I'm not a YGO fan but I've seen a couple of episodes and both had people threatening others by pointing fingers at them.

I always wondered why somebody didn't just go to the other side of those arenas, punch the opponent in the face, and take their cards and star things.

Surprisingly, a lot of material especially early on. All of the cards were edited to comply with FCC advertisement rules. There are a number of censor edits likewise to cards and characters. (Adding clothing.) They toned down and altered a number of scenes in the dialogue. Guns are removed in the entire first arc and they angrily point with fingers. A lot of it is really silly or pointless edits. The Abridged Series points out a number of these oddities.

Saw this earlier today, wondering what it means for the future of the show.

Comparisons of JP/ENG versions of the DM series --> http://www.yu-jyo.net/index.php
And a similar site for 5D's comparisons (although it's not quite up-to-date) --> http://gymleaderlance99.110mb.com/

Unfortunately there is no such site with GX comparisons. Pity, since dub!GX has some hilarious dialogue/plot edits. D:

What's the point of uploading them without subs? Man, that company's stupid....

has everyone forgotten that funimation and 4kids tried to release uncut dvds and no one bought them? only 3 discs were released of season 1 it featured a completely uncensored closer to japanese dub, and the origonal japanese version subtitled. So for those who would be willing to pay anything for them there is a chance to buy them, heck my family video was selling a copy of 1 for like 5 bucks.

Well, do I need to count off the two thing's that are wrong here?

yes. yes I do.

1) Not translated, It's cool and all that they want to give us the stuff uncut but we need some guidance to what's going on even if it's "I punch you you little guy"

2) Not avaiable in the not US. Speaks for itself.

Well, in non-public duels, it is questionable, but in public duels, that would kinda get you disqualified from the tournament (and they probably knew Pegasus and Kaiba had cameras everywhere in respective their tournament regions). Also, the Millennium Items had to be won through a duel, otherwise they'd be useless.

Also, to see a comparison between the edited vs. unedited sub vs. manga in terms of graphic content: spoiler[in dub, Bandit Keith jumps at Pegasus and threatens him while pointing his finger at him, and Pegasus releases the trap door, in the sub, same deal except Keith is pointing a gun at Pegasus instead of a finger, and in the manga, there is no trap door and instead Pegasus possesses Keith with the Millennium Eye and forces him to shoot himself (Keith coming back possessed by Marik was filler). So yeah, 4Kids did do some edits, though not as bad as compared to One Piece or Cardcaptor Sakura]

For once I think this is appropriate. It's entirely in the spirit of this show for it only to be available....in America!

But that means that everyone will have to start speaking American, since it's the only language that I understand.

Okay, while this is pleasantly surprising that 4Kids is allowing the original Japanese version of the show to be played out on Youtube, it's not going to be much good if there aren't any subs available for it.

I'm personally hoping that they will allow subbed episodes on Youtube in the future. Otherwise, we won't be seeing that many episodes in Japanese.

I still wonder why they're doing this though. A thank you to the fans who had supported this series since the early 00's? Economic problems leading them to cater to the fanbase? Confused

I hope the Japanese Kinnikuman Nisei and Shaman King get uploaded in the near future. It would be nice to see how they are.

Just as long as everyone also wears a flag on their head, I'll be happy.

Is that a trick we have to learn from watching Excel Saga?
