APM did the dub for Ex Machina I didn't know that
well atleast they are getting work, I used to like most of ADV's dubs when I used to use them.

Episode 2 "The Duel" was a big disappointment. I didn't like it at all, everything about it was terrible.

The first episode was much better, so I hope they don't make another bad one.

I'm thinking of a certain cliched saying. Something about chefs and there being too many of them

I thought it was great; by far the best musical underscore. I loved the new animation and poignant storyline too.

I'm finding myself surprisingly moved by these short vignettes.

Production IG rarely disappoints and they did a great job on this one. Though the art style is a little unusual - I'm not sure how most people will find it with the unique 3D look.

Production values, and music were top-notch, as to be expected. The japanese instrumentation was very appropriate, given the samurai-theme of the episode.

I also didn't like it. Bored me to sleep - literally. I had to re-watch the end of this ep.

But thanks for pointing out a new feature on my XBox that I never knew was there!

Well I personally hope they never use this "New Animation" ever again.

I have to admit I found the visual animation style a little off-putting. I normally like when a company tries to do something off the beaten track, but I prefer the "meat and potatoes" look of the first eppie. Part of it may be that a property like Halo is more suited to a conventional animation style as opposed to a somewhat "arty" approach.

The Duel was interesting, but to a degree I was also bored with it.

The Babysitter was much more entertaining.

This is why I was always concerned with this project, while excited too. Sometimes japanese studios go too mental when you give them some creative freedom. I felt the overly japanese look of the aliens was like bad ego stroking. How about using influence from other nations Japan, or at least try something original.

A proper full 26 ep series in one, consistent style of animation, would have done Halo better justice, delivering enough story from the games and books, while doing some new stuff. These short stories were always going to be hit and miss, just like Animatrix.

Still a few episodes to go yet, but I think that MS should let Live users vote for their favourite episode, and if they are smart, they should build on it with the full series, covering the story in more detail, from differing viewpoints of characters, more action etc.
