I am very happy to be able to see these shows. I really would love it, though, if Funi would make a subscription service like CR for upgraded streams. I would so totally subscribe. In any case, streaming shows from this particular programming block is a seriously classy move on Funi's part. Way to go!!

This also answers a lot of questions I've had about CR, and why they haven't seemed to be getting as many licenses as they previously did. More competition is good, but I hope the past doesn't repeat itself, leading to bidding wars, higher prices and ridiculous bundled property packages.

Both these shows look horrible. They should have gotten K-ON and Angel Beats.

Excuse me for not wanting to watch more of the same Moe crap churned out of Japanese Studios. Thank God Funimation has a brain to license quality shows. Though frankly Angel Beats isn't a bad show.

O.K. but why do you have to act like such a jerk about it? I might have given K-ON and Angel Beats more of a chance, but the endless whining (and creepy posts) from a large contingency of their fans make me want to avoid these shows in a big way. I don't think that helps draw in fans for shows like these, JMO.

I probably won't bother checking these out until they pop on Hulu or YouTube (if they ever do.) I've pretty much given up on getting Funi's player to work.

However, they do sound a bit interesting, if not exactly original.

House of 5 leaves is on YouTube. And georestricted. *sigh*
Why can't FUNi at least state where they have the rights for when they license things, at least CR does that.
Not that FUNi streams are that good, the FMA stream we have from them is godawful quality. And this isn't going to do the, normally lax (this is general not just to FUNi), quality control on the subs any good either. I doubt they'll bother to fix any mistakes if it does get to disk release.

The North American anime distributor Funimation has announced that it has licensed... The Tatami Galaxy (Yojō-Han Shinwa Taikei)...
Please please please let there be a quick turn-around on a Blu-ray release.

And please please please let this mean that Funimation might go for other Noitamina shows, like Mononoke.

Oh, so you're already familiar with the original material and directors for these two shows, and have already viewed their adaptions. I see.

Licensees here in North America already give you your fill of moe-inducing shows. Stop whining about "derivative" series when your viewing diet seems to consist of nothing but that.

However, I don't think that everyone quite understands just how major this announcement is. FUNimation will now be simulcasting Fuji TV's Noitamina block in of itself, not just these two series. There have been a great deal of notable and highly-rated works that have come on in that covented block and now we'll have the opporitunity to watch those same shows soon after they've aired.

Werd. For those who may not be familiar with the Noitamina roster check this out this Murderer's Row of Awesomeness:

After watching the first episode, I think House of Five Leaves will be one of my favorites this season. I really like the soundtrack. But I still (perhaps vainly) hope for a physical release by Funi, preferably BD, but DVD would do. At the very least subs on the Japanese release would be nice, but I don't think that's happened yet for a simulcast series.

Good luck with the former. Totally artsy, even moreso in some ways than Mushishi. Surprised they didn't go for something easier like Ristorante Paradiso.

Frankly, I find this news little to nothing, when compared to the news of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzamiya Movie being licensed and dubbed.

Yeah, but that was always a guarantee! I mean, I'm happy about it too, but it's hardly a surprise, it's a huge hit, of course they'd license the movie. This, on the other hand, is a BIG surprise, and a much-appreciated one.

Kaze just announced the same thing simultaneously in France, seems like Fuji TV was really pushing for those two titles. Good thing for Yojō-Han Shinwa Taikei and Yuasa, except for the English title which is just... maybe the worst I've seen in my entire life. Apart from that, Noitamina getting licenced is just the best news that had ever happened to Japanese animation since Disney bought the Ghibli catalogue. No, really.

I would have preferred Crunchyroll picking up streaming rights for these two since they at least gave you streaming options for whether you wanted the video in SD or HD. Funi doesn't have such options and as I'm typing now, I'm still waiting for the first episode of House of Five Leaves to get done loading up.

Aaaand not available in the UK. BOOOOO!!!!

Damn shame, as I've never seen a Noitamina show I haven't liked, but this parochialism (who's language is it anyway) drives me to fansubs. Release it on DVD and I'll buy, but this region-locked streaming service is useless to all English speaking viewers outside of north America.
(I'd guess the Aussies are locked out too...)

Close but no cigar.

If FUNi's video player still isn't working for you, you can check it out on Youtube instead.

Funimation REALLY needs to knock it off with this licensing shows before they air nonsense. It makes it a lot harder fans who care about quality or if they're not USA to see these shows cause Funimation will jus send out a bunch of C&Ds to fansubbers. This just limits their audience which hurts both Funimation and the ORIGINAL creators. Stop being selfish already.

OH MY GOD. Funimation, I... I love you!!

If Yuasa's work on The Tatami Galaxy is anywhere near as good as his work on Kaiba, I will die a happy woman with these DVDs on someday on my shelves. You've made my week. Thank you. Very Happy
