I did open the topic in the least trollish manner, didn't I? Or would you prefer me to open the topic through an overly moe and kawaii entrance? I know neither of us prefer that.
Well regarding the lack of professionalism, I merely used the term for lack of a more appropriate term; please understand that English is my lingua franca. What I'm trying to say is that I hope that this community is not comparable to some other website that has a very large population of trolls. But I won't take back the fact that I'm also looking for a friendly community. "starting casting judgment on us as Christ reborn"? I call that as a first impression. Everyone has a right to make one, and I'm sure there is no such thing against it written in the rules. EDIT: I forgot to read some posts.  Oh, and I've been lurking here since I became an admin for the Shakugan no Shana Wiki almost a year ago. I haven't quite estimated the community at that time though.

We have trolls, but not a huge population. Trolling and attacks are not allowed though, so if you encounter one simply report the post and we'll resolve it. I mean, if you discuss fansubs you're going to have people argue with you and against you, it's just the nature of such topics. We do expect people to argue in a civil fashion, and there's no tolerance for attacking other users and blatant trolling. As the rules state, people are free to disagree with others, but they are expected to disagree respectfully or not at all. It is a big forum and a pretty active one, so we won't always see everything unless it has been reported, which we encourage people to do so we can find the trolls we do have and minimize their effect.

I'm a he. Last time I checked anyways, which was a few hours ago when I used the bathroom. Parts were still all there. No repo men yet. Just a few things you might want to also consider before passing judgement. 1. This place is a BUSINESS first and foremost. The forums are a sort of...extra if you will. Their focus is on the News and related stuff first. I mean that's what this place made it's name on. Hence the little tittle below the name that says "The Internet's Most Trusted News Source." So I would be willing to bet most of the other forums you've been on are not an actual business. Keeping that in mind of course the rules are much more adamantly enforced here and of course the moderators are more heavy handed. They have to be to some degree. 2. On the subject of the moderators they are VOLUNTARY help. They are not paid. So policing a forum this size given the previous point means they will have less time for crap or spam. Being volunteers also means they do this out of s courtesy to the admins here. A lot of people don't know or forget that. Plus like with anything the mods here compromise a pretty wide range of personalities. Not all even live in America. 3. The Talkback section here is filled with trolls and spam. Yes it is and that's just the truth. That sections is where all the little loud mouthed idiots go. The ones who sign up just to bitch on a subject or two before riding off into the sunset (their parents basement) to continue their moral crusade (download porn). They are the black eye on this site. The problem is due to their oh so joyous and witty posts many issues have de-evolved (even a real word?) into nothing more then a hotbed for flame riddled posts (not to be confused with the flame broiled whopper), trolls (not the kind under bridges...though who knows with some of these people), and blatant spam (not the delicious kind that makes Spam Musubi). Given that when such topics like sub vs dub, anything loli, fansubs, etc get brought up elsewhere the mods are quick to smite the threads with their +5 maces of destruction at the first sign of idiocy. That happens by the end of page 1 (if lucky it takes that long) in these threads. Think of it as an effort to contain the idiots to just one section. Like keeping a tumor localized and not spread through the entire body. And often these morons are as malignant as cancer so the analogy there is rather fitting I think. 4. The last is the morons are always the loudest idiots. It may seem this place is hate filled or full of morons but just remember for every 1 idiot here we have a handful of decent people. Unfortunately the idiots are just very loud. And a handful also actually stick around and continue their idiocy until they finally slip up enough to get banned. If you want to see a section that is pretty much idiot free and more laid back become a subscriber. Drop $2 for one month and check out the Community section. If by then you STILL think the way you do now....well then I suppose you probably would be better off finding greener pastures. |

I've been wondering a lot about that, honestly. Why are there so many individuals who sign up seemingly just to start a fight? I certainly hope I don't sound rude for saying this. I've seen quite a few individuals who have maybe one or two posts that are just complaining about a certain forum practice, and never post again. I assumed they were people who were banned, coming back to complain, or something to that effect. Am I incorrect?
