hmm, got a different show taking Space Bro's time slot in April, so it's either being moved again, or the show will end at 100 episodes. If it it is ending, I hope it's temporary and mainly to allow the manga author more time to write more.

Mutta, Eddie and Andy are fine, but the other three are mupppets and their presence in a crew is an insult to all the other far more qualified people who didn't make it that far. The show has taken a nose-dive in believability. Why is NASA even giving the time of day to a guy who turns up to work hung over every morning? How did a woman who goes around threatening everyone she sees with violence manage to make it past the most basic of personality tests? As for the Jamaican dude, he is so turned up to eleven with his stereotyping it's just hugely racist.

Come on Space Brothers, this is very poor and you can do far better.

It's more interesting, to tell a story about how you become an astronaut with those that don't know how than starting with a crew that already does. And let's not forget that this is largely a comedy. It's hard to have a comedy with a crew of straight-men.

It's as simple as that.
And of course we will learn why they were picked anyway.

It is explicitly stated that if the team stayed as it is they would have never gotten any missions. The team members probably have a lot of good qualities behind an undesirable exterior, and under the right leadership those qualities can show up.

spoiler[Guess this time the focus is on Betty.
It was nice to find out more about her.
Flashbacks were interesting enough.
The tragedy changed her quite a bit.
It was also nice to see Pico again ^^]

I agree... even if they made it into astronaut training, there is no way they would be picked for a moon mission when Kenji or Reiji weren't. Not a chance.

Seems Betty is only the way she is after spoiler[her husband died, long after she became an astronaut.] so that answers the question as to how she became one in the first place. we are finally going to get to see what Kenji and Nitta are doing next week

There's also the question of their engineer apparently still drinking on the job...

I listened on Toonami with my headphones earlier today and was quite something.

Very Happy

spoiler[
"An" as in bean paste is: 餡

The "an" they used for her name is 安 -- associated with ideas like "relaxed," "peaceful," "calm," and "easygoing."

Of course, her big sister doesn't read kanji yet, so there's no telling what she's thinking Smile

And way to go, Kenji! If they're not sending a guy like him to the moon, they ought to have something good for him, and Butler didn't disappoint.

I certainly hope the series isn't ending. It doesn't feel like it's anywhere near a conclusion, and we've still got that theatrical movie coming up this summer. It would be weird to cancel it four months before the movie comes out.

As others have pointed out, this show occasionally has some groan-inducing stuff, but overall it has been one of the most consistently pleasant anime on TV for the past two years running, at least for me. I love these characters we've gotten to know so well, and enjoy just watching them live their lives from week to week. It's my weekly dose of warm, optimistic human drama, and I hope it sticks around for a while yet to come.
