Actually I do think I could see a woman of her physique (aka smaller breasts) doing the main girl. The book explicitly states that she doesn't have large breasts as, in universe, a movie was made of her and the action figure of her was hilariously inaccurate due to having D cups or something (and long blonde wavy hair).

But I'm still not sold on Tom Cruise as the main guy, as, despite going through Groundhog Day, I wouldn't exactly call the guy insane. And I think Tom Cruise is best left to insane roles, like the evil vampire from Interview With The Vampire, or jumping up and down on Oprah's couch like a lunatic (ok, so that wasn't exactly a role, which should make it even more eyebrow raising). Still, Tom Cruise is at least known as a part time actor (and part time scientologist nutcase), unlike Keanu Reeves who is known as a full time life sized wooden doll. So...we shall see, I guess I could give the film a shot even if I'm not a Tom Cruise fan (though I couldn't call his role in Interview With the Vampire anything but perfect)

Absolutely loved this book. I for one will definitely be going to see this. Tom Cruise could work, though they'd have to change the story so the main character isn't Japanese. With the right special effects this movie can turn out great.
