Technical Japanese business law stuff involving the corporate structure and reporting requirements. More practically "kabushiki gaisha" are the normal kinds and are the most "trusted" by other businesses. Most other kinds of businesses in Japan like "LLC" (goudou kaisha) or limited (yuugen) kaisha can be "upgraded" to a full kabushiki gaisha by filing the appropriate paperwork and appointing board members, etc... |

Not necessarily. A kabushiki gaisha simply means that it's owned by stock holders, not that the stocks are offered publicly. However if they did want to do an IPO in the future this is a required first step. |
