This is very good news. I wonder if the announcement will have any effect on licensing the first season for home video over here. Either way, I'm definitely down for more Chihayafuru.

I promised myself I would not watch the second season after being quite disappointed with the lack of resolution from the first.

 I understand there are a lot of fans, but I honestly can't be attached to the characters like Hikaru no Go or other Japanese stationary-sports anime.

Yay! I wasn't expecting to see more, so I'm quite happy to hear this news. It's one of a handful of series that I decided to import, so that should mean a lot more BDs to buy... I hope that the production quality for the new series doesn't drop. ^^;
I'd love to see it in the Fall, but I'll take it whenever they produce it. ^^ |

As much as people say this couldn't be licensed, I highly doubt it. They've licensed anime with more obscure and esoteric premises before, and I'm sure they will again. Of course it helps when the only companies grabbing titles aren't FUNi and Sentai. My money's on Sentai if anyone. |
