I'm shocked. After the poor sales (2K per volume), I thought it wouldn't happen, but it did.
I still have yet to watch the first season, but this is really, really good news for all the people who absolutely loved the first season.

This is awesome news!! I can't wait to see this anime continued - one of my favorites in recent years! I seriously didn't think it would get a second season, but it's so nice to be wrong!

Of course it helps when the only companies grabbing titles aren't FUNi and Sentai. My money's on Sentai if anyone. |
If Sentai and Funi passes, I'd not be surprised if Nozomi/RightStuf picked it up. |
Although I'd like to see Chihayafuru dubbed, I'd love to see the treatment Nozomi would give it.
Bring on season 2 ASAP

I had to suppress a scream of joy when I read the news at work.
As for a license I think this would be a great series for the NISA premium sets. I am also hoping for a manga license.

One my favorites from 2011!! I can't wait!!!
Now if only someone would license season 1 for the US or the manga. |
If you go to Vertical's Facebook page, they're running a poll on what manga to license next year. Chihayafuru is currently in fifth place. (I think you have to like them in order to see the poll.) |
Thanks; I appreciate it!
I voted for Chihayafuru, Princess Jellyfish, March Comes like a Lion,Kaze to Ki no Uta & five others.
If it doesn't get picked up (which it should since it's in 2nd), I'll consider importing. ^__^
A possible NIS America box set? That would be amazing~

Thanks for the info! But if I remember correctly, someone did ask him about it on Twitter a little while ago, and his response, while not totally shooting it down, wasn't too positive either (memory's really fuzzy). Hopefully this poll will show the interest, although I think he also did say that they're avoiding long series at this point. |
That was me. He said they'd have no idea who to market it to...
Also, HELL YEAH! Best news I've heard all day.

I enjoyed the show, though it wasn't one of my favorites. |
Of course not, there wasn't enough yuri/moe/ecchi going on...
