Sounds like they've ran out of ideas for both franchises.
Judging by the last few Lupin specials and the last few Conan movies, that's probably the case. TMS needs to give Lupin III a good, long rest. There hasn't been a good Lupin III anime since Episode 0: First Contact.
On the plus side for a R1 release, Funimation would have it in the bag, wouldn't they? |

Soo, Lupin is gonna kill somebody? Because I don't see any other reason for Conan to be after him, haha.
Seriously though, this is likely going to be very much awesome. Hopefully some group will put out a fansub of it. I know, I know, blasphemy and all that, but I doubt it'd make it's way stateside any time soon despite Funi being in prime licensing position. |

This could turn out to be so awesome! Heh, reminds me of the Lupin cameo in the 11th Conan movie, where in the beginning some burglars were wearing Lupin and Fujiko masks ("The culprits are... Lupin and Fujiko!" "What? Please confirm their identity!"). 
Of course, a Kaitou KID vs. Lupin III special would be even better :3

I don't care what kind of licensing thing I will break, I WILL see this somehow. A Lupin the III and Conan crossover...
Unbelievable. Never would've imagined in a million years and yet... I saw this, was wide eyed with shock and then giddy with excitement. |

BLAH, we all know it's never gonna happen.
Still, it'll be priceless. It's gonna be an epic mystery/espionage/comedy collaboration of massive win. Hell, they could do the MOST generic and predictable plot and it would still be enjoyable. It's Lupin and Conan on the same screen, interacting, the potential dialogue... *gushes*
It's just not possible to fail on this. It's going to be awesome, without a doubt. |

For the same reasons he solves many non-murder cases and matches wits with Kaitou Kid?
This will be amazing!! But Lupin's personality is a bit like Kid's, and it's kind of weird that Conan will be going against the other Arsene Lupin successor, right? Therefore:
