Surprised Cowa! made the grade. Hopefully, a win will make it up to Toriyama for DB:E.

I'll be rooting for Monster. I can see it doing well with the Eisner comic crowd who have yet to discover it.

All the pictures look like they are cut off or something. Or is it just my computer?

Nice to see Solanin getting some well-deserved recognition.

My sentiments exactly, dear. Hope it wins in at least one category as it is such an insightful and thought-provoking work. Smile

I'm also surprised that Dororo got the nod over Black Jack. Dororo is a wonderful work, but Black Jack rivals House as the best unrealistic medical drama starring a brilliant doctor with questionable bedside manner and morals, ever! Plus, he turned a tumor into an annoying but cut kiddie sidekick. How can you not love that? Razz

Also "Good-Bye" was very, very disturbing.

I'm not sure, Monster and Good Bye seem to have good odds, but Solanin and Cowa were really good too. (Haven't read Dororo yet).

They're in a separate category. Japan gets its own category just because of the vast amount of Japanese material released in America. Here are the nominees:

Best U.S. Edition of International Material

Alan’s War, by Emmanuel Guibert (First Second)

Gus and His Gang, by Chris Blain (First Second)

The Last Musketeer, by Jason (Fantagraphics)

The Rabbi’s Cat 2, by Joann Sfar (Pantheon)

Tamara Drewe, by Posy Simmonds (Mariner/Houghton Mifflin)

Pity that Me and the Devil Blues and Black Jack aren't on there. Lot of 'em here (Tatsumi, Urasawa, Tezuka and Umezu) are obvious choices.

Really interesting to see how well Solanin has been received here in the United States, though.

Haven't read Black Jack, but thanks for reminding me about Me and the Devil Blues. You're absolutely right, MatDB should definitely be on that list.
