Were they trying to do here what they did to Casshern in Casshan? I haven't seen this one, yet. That Discotek subscription is sounding like a good idea, they have hundreds of OVAs and films they could bring back, but I still wish that boxset idea was a possibility too.
I'm shocked the news isn't "Madoka Magica's Shinbo's Hurricane Polymer OVA." |

More of that "How-Is-It-Spelled/Pronounced?" mess huh? |

On the new ANNCast that came out yesterday, Zac said that Discotek should do a subscription service (i.e. the "Discotek Anime Club"), because he felt that there would be enough people for it to be worth trying out. Mike, Daryl, & Justin all agreed that it would be a great idea, and it really does sound like a viable idea for Discotek to try out. |

No, I mean taking the character and making the show darker and more serious, what they did to Casshern in Casshan: Robot Hunter OVA, which is how we tend to refer to that one. |

| I really wish there was a Discotek subscription. I already get everything they release. Might as well formalize it as a "Damn Good Old Stuff of the Month" Club. |

| Decent to somewhat-decent OVA--more mesmerizing for the spectacle of Akiyuki Shinbo x Yasuomi Umetsu than anything else (the score was very good, too). It didn't really explain the plot well enough to make it wholly enjoyable, so I'm a little torn on whether I'd get the disc or not. It is good-enough eye-candy, though, and Discotek would be remiss not to throw Shinbo and Umetsu's names & credentials on the cover and promo materials. |

| I'm inclined to get it just for the Shinbo. This OAV was produced around the time he was doing Starship Girl Yamamoto Yohko TV, which contained a lot of his early visual experiments that later blossomed in SoulTaker and reappeared in Bakemonogatari. |

| Just as long as they don't make a new one that stars a drug addicted emo that only has the same costume as Polymar, IE Casshern Sins. |

Haven't seen much of the Polymar series, but I'll gladly buy this one to show I support Discotek for licensing various anime that were either never licensed before or have been in limbo for sometime after the U.S. distribution rights didn't get renewed.
While we're talking about a Tatsunoko related title, I wonder if their interested in licensing the Gatchaman OVA. While more flamboyant than the original TV series, it had some good remix character designs on the five members of the Gatchman team. Excluding Dr. Nambu wearing a pink lab coat, and Berg Katsu looking more femine in appearance.
But just a thought seeing that they've been licensing OVAs that are based off of long anime TV series. |
