"Soul Eater" might have a chance at this. It only took the first 10 minutes of the first episode to tell me that it was the show of '08.

I wasn't aware Soul Eater was called "Kaiba" now.

Regardless, the first episode of Soul Eater is admittedly a lot of fun. It makes sense to showcase it.

Soul Shitter as I call it shouldn't be shown on such a prestigious festival along with so many great titles (then again Kaze, the French editor of SS is very powerful and can make anyone do anything right now in the market, a bit like FUNimation in the US). But still, showing such a highly anti-artistic title in a festival that is supposed to show mainly artistic successes is some kind of a shame for me... I was VERY surprised when I read this news. Hopefully they'll only broadcast the first episode, which is the only interesting episode of the series.

Sweet, Soul Eater is genius at work...up until the inevitable split. A Japanese opus.

Go watch the fight scene in the first episode, and any subsequent episode. Ignore the plot, the shounen trappings, and just fast-forward to every moment they switch from animating on twos to animating on ones. This is BONES best choreography to date, and some of the best anywhere. THEN claim it's "anti-artistic" (and a clarification of the term in relation to an entirely illustrated medium would be helpful).

Watched Chainsaw Maid a while ago and rather enjoyed it, but I've always had a soft-spot for claymation.
