| Aww I'm disappointed about this. I was really looking forward to seeing them.
I understand Pony Canyon's concerns...but I think it's still a little silly of them. |

| Texas has 28 confirmed cases with 1 death as of 5/1/09, a toddler from Mexico City who died in Houston (240 miles from Dallas). The only state that has more cases is New York.
Sure, you have the WHO statement. But it is better to be safe than sorry imo. |

The toddler died in Houston,Texas not Mexico. Children can succomb faster than adults. Who really wants to be treated in the US when they don't have to? They could have another concert/TV appearance/studio gig scheduled after A-Kon. No need to take the risk imo. |

The toddler was infected in Mexico and only brought into a hospital after a week of being sick. 200 people die of not-"swine" flu every day. This is overblown. |

| I agree with Kougero.
I live in Texas at the moment and I'm still definitely going to A-kon. This strain isn't more vicious than other strains. |

But FOX news tell me that it is going to kill us all, much like mad cow disease killed us all in the 90s/ Everyone should belive FOX news they tell the truth. *end sarcasm* |

| well....better safe than sorry...
i personally think A-Kon should either postpone or cancel this year since having so many people in so close proximity is a breeding ground for who knows what.... |

| And this is what we get for the media making it seem worse than it is. :/ I'm not from Texas, but I'm from New York City where most of the cases in the country are. Meh, I hope the flu doesn't stop other guests from coming to our own con next month. I personally don't think anyone should cancel things at this point.
Also, the better safe than sorry argument to me is useless because if I wanted to be "better safe than sorry" I should just stop going to school/work. I think I have just the same, if not higher chance of getting it there, but I don't know. :| |

| I got sick around the same time they started running more cases with the flu, and that everyone cried PIG.
Turns out I have a case of acute bronchitis, which prevented me from going to work/school for the rest of the week. I was miserable. I'm wondering how long this crap is going to happen, because I just bought tickets to the VAMPS concert. =/ So I hope this flu thing is over by then. It's not called Swine Flu anymore though...after the slaughter of Pigs as well as the ban on pork products...well, yeah. |

| Japanese are hypochondriacs. OH NO, SOMEONE IS COUGHING, EVERYONE PUT ON THE MASKS! Oh no, it's raining, I'm gonna get pneumonia!
They're overreacting, just like the news is. Why? Because diseases [expletive] sell because it's global, unlike a war or a genocide in a far off country. It's a way to scare people the easiest. Mad Cow Disease, Foot in Mouth, SARS, Bird Flu. Yeah, sure is global pandemic around here, remember when those diseases killed us all many times over? |

| I honestly don't blame them one bit. I would have done the same thing in there shoes. Though, I'm wondering how the A-Kon staff are gonna handle it. It's gonna be interesting this year. | ||||||
