Sorry, if you come out and say that anime needs saving, and you're the one who's going to save it, and then faceplant as spectacularly as Yamakan did, you deserve all the internet mocking you're gonna get.

His show tanked, that's it. Hopefully he learned from it and will make better shows. If not, who cares. If I had a nickel for every stupid thing someone has said... you know how it goes.

If Fractale had just tanked, then that would be one thing. But have it tank, after what Yamakan said, and during the same season where Shinbo and Urobuchi gave a master-class in how to do it right, is why he is so roundly mocked.
Also Yamakan is only interested in the cause of Yamakan.

No, he's mocked because he's self-aggrandizing and consistently blames his own failures on other people.
He's not a bad directory, but he's not a hero here to save anime, either.

Yutaka Yamamoto always seems to me as though he is trying very hard to be something. I don't know what, but something. The problem being that he doesn't quite seem to understand what that something should be and doesn't seem to have the means to attain it anyway.

Regardless of whether or not Fractale failed, Yamakan is a visionary. He believes that anime can be more than what it's currently used for normally. I respect for that alone.
He's an auteur through and through. For that alone, I respect him.
