I go there and I actually have no idea how it would work, but I'd assume that it would be open to the public... But yeah... gotta find out about this. |

| I'd definitely go as Berkeley is about half an hour away, but alas it's the same weekend as San Diego ComicCon...

Ooh, and I just transferred into UC Berkeley to be an Asian Studies major! It's a sign!  Hopefully there will be some sort of public ceremony.
Though, I think Miyazaki dislikes coming to the US. If I remember correctly, he didn't even come to the US to receive his Oscar for Spirited Away in person. I think it was because the US had just invaded Iraq... So I'm pretty sure he's been 'persuaded' by Disney to go to this. Well, everyone will just have to be on their best behavior so he might willingly come back one day! |

that's assuming its going to be open to the public  Im gonna ask my friends sister tomorrow if she knows anything about it, since she is a) a student at Berkley and b) her major is in Japanese. Plus she's an anime fan, so maybe she knows more info. |

| If this event is similar to the one with Murakami in the fall (it sounds like it's the same prize), it's probably open the public, but you'll have to buy tickets. If I recall correctly, the Murakami event sold out relatively quickly, so if you're interested in going, you'll want to keep an eye out for when tickets go on sale. | ||||
