What was so bad about the Linebarrels manga? I'd heard it was quite superior to the anime (which I haven't seen but looks sort of interestign)

It is, and to my eyes at least, that is what the text implied (that the reputation built by the manga would be more of an influence than it's reputation as an anime).

We had tournaments of Tekken all the time at Gamecrazy.I've stood countless times and shown the audience what a crappy button masher it was.I didn't even look at the screen on most of the time.

When the Dreamcast launched,I did the same thing with Soul Caliber. It' pathetic.Namco is better than that.spoiler[No they're not]

Oh, dude. Ooooh, dude. Oh dude dude dude.

I'm not the biggest Tekken advocate in the world (I respect it, but usually sink far more time into 2D fighters), but I know it's no brain dead stupid easy durrrr fighter by any means. It's been broken down, memorized, and furiously played over years and still been able to stand up. It's got mind games and varied strategies up the ass. Virtua Fighter is more complicated and arguably more deep, sure, but that doesn't mean everything that isn't Virtua Fighter is stupid.

In this case, I can say with some degree of confidence that if you could win rounds while not even looking at the screen, it's saying more about your opponents than the simplicity of the game. Keep in mind that while Tekken may be somewhat masher friendly, that doesn't mean that a masher won't get destroyed by someone with a greater understanding of the game. Saying that you can beat some locals with mashing means the game is crap is like saying King of Fighters 98 is garbage because you killed a bunch of guys using nothing but Benimaru's heavy kick.

Of course, if you need to fight someone in your area to grasp this and videos on the internet/literature online aren't enough for you, then I guess there's not much that can be done to convince you otherwise. All I can really say is that you're vastly underestimating the series.

I can't say much about Soul Calibur, though. I've heard different things all over the place and I'm not particularly drawn to the series beyond Soul Blade being charming, enjoying the Dreamcastiness of the first, and admiring the way Rei Hiroe drew Cassandra in that one hot doujin.

It's the natural thing to say "it must be your opponets" I've done this in front of a crowd, many times.I've mashed in the arcades (Casino arcades) I've gone through single and multiplayer mode mashing. It's terrible.Unless 6 is any better online,I have lost respect for Namco. It's not just now,I lost respect for them years ago.

Just Tekken,Soul Caliber and maybe say,(Heh,heh) Street Fighter EX.As I've told you before, these few 3D fighters are garbage.I'm sorry that's just me though.

Hey Captain, you've had to have picked up SF4 by now. What did you think? I really enjoyed it.But damn,I haven't fought a cheap boss like Seth since the old King of the Fighter boss roster.

Man,can't wait for KoF 12,Blazeblue,etc.

And I do hope that Square isn't going to brush us Edge/Rydia fans off after all of our clamoring. Fortunately, the fanart and doujinshi that can be found for this couple is usually high quality, but I want an official confirmation for a change.

If you want to get hardcore for a minute,If you have ever played through Final Fantasy 3/6,there was a part in which if you were to go out of your way,you would find Rosa frozen in stone.I want to know what's up,why and where in the story that happened. Very Happy

I was introduced to FF6 through the PSX edition and have played it a couple of times. What part are you referring to?

There is a point in the game where Edward's castle moves between the two deserts, and eventually gets stuck.(I'm recalling this from 1994) Inside you will find the frozen Rosa. It's a nice cameo.Strange though.

Google doesn't show any pics,so I might have to go through it again real quick.

If you say so, buckaroo.

Well, for me, it's "picked up" in the sense that my friends picked it up and then I play it when I'm at their places because I don't actually have any next gen home consoles. :B

It is quite good, yes. It's somewhat unfortunate that it's easy to be a serial killer with Sagat, but overall, the cast is interesting and they managed to make a very Street Fighter-feeling engine while keeping things fresh with its new systems. Since I only get to play this when I'm with my buds, though, I haven't been able to go as far in depth as I usually do with fighters. I think the last time I got to play it was like a month ago. I did end up having to build a new computer not long after this year started and it's looking like this thing can probably handle the PC version of the game, so that may change soon enough.

Still, all other fighters are eclipsed in my mind right now by my anticipation for KOF XII. I'm more of a KOF guy than anything, and on top of the fact that the game is gorgeous, I love how the roster has turned out (even characters I normally didn't think much about, namely Chin and Raiden, look completely awesome style/game wise) and the engine/systems seem to have been well implemented.

Oh, you mean the sidequest in which you get the Odin magicite. I never thought that the petrified Queen was supposed to be Rosa, I'm so slow.

I should definitely check that out in my next playthrough.

It isn't technically Rosa.

One of the long standing traditions of Final Fantasy is lookalike cameos.

Cid being the main example of a character who's in most of the series but is always a different character. Locke makes a brief appearance in Final Fantasy IX but it's a different Locke to the character from VI.

Think of each game as set in an alternate world (which is usually what most fans think to the majority of the games) where some characters appear from previous games in new roles specific to that alternate world.

Well,I had always remembered such because in Final Fantasy 4,the king of Baron was Odin. Was that not the magicite the frozen Rosa was holding, not Odin, but the one that turned Odin to Raiden? That was another throwback to 4.
