Ai Kawashima actually has a pretty sad story. I've seen her live too she has a beautiful voice.

I wonder how much input Ai Kawashima had for the project. I know it's based off of her autobiographical essay, but I wonder if she had any other contributions to the film. It does seem enticing. I don't know much about her, but from what I read she's only 23 years old - it is quite an accomplishment at age 23 to have a film based off of your life story. Heck - for most people their lives are just beginning!
