So this means I'm gonna have to buy this twice... great. Oh well, at least Eva is worth it. I definitely want it on BluRay, but there is no way I'm waiting til next spring to own it. |

| So Funi did get the rights to all the different versions. Doesn't matter as I still have yet to finish watching the TV series. |

| Holy hell it took them long enough. And why are they screening 1.0 instead of 2.0 when probably everyone there who is interested in EVA has already seen 1.0? I saw it like 7 months ago. I would have paid to go to the expo had they screened 2.0. |

Oh good! Only on the damned west coast and in very limited states!
I hate you, America. Also, funimation, grow some balls. |

Same.
Though I'll probably rent 1.01. |

| This announcement was the only thing at AX that I was looking forward to, so I'm just ecstatic that it was made. I can definitely wait until next spring for 1.11. |

| I thought they had already planned the theatrical releases. It's actually playing this weekend in Seattle. The first showing isn't until 7 tonight, though, so I suppose the North American premier will still be AX. |

Sigh. I guess I'll buy the 1.01 DVD this fall, and then buy 1.11 on Blu-ray. I can't wait until next spring to get my hands on a physical copy of this movie.
I was planning a double dip on the movies anyway. I don't personally own a Blu-ray player (boyfriend does) but feel Eva would be worth getting on Blu-ray. The DVD is just backup in case I want to watch it somewhere where there is no Blu-ray player.
Also, can't wait for the theatre release. I already told my friend that she's coming with me, and have threatened her with beatings if she dares to call it 'Gundam' |

| Would someone like to outline for the uninformed reader what on earth is the difference between all these versions? 1.0, 1.01, 1.11, 1.00010101010.... (o_O) |

In version 1.0, Eva 01's armour is lime green. In version 1.11, it's closer to a neon green. |

Huzzah. That's very good to know. Having bought the series twice on DVD, I'll certainly wait for the 1.11 DVD in the spring.

Yet you love Japan and the studios putting out Eva who are doing all these different versions? Plus it's a damned miracle that a niche company like Funimation even got this wide of a theatrical release. Funimation can only do what their contract with the Japanese company allows them. Really, I never got the hatred for the US companies when most of the problems and price points come from the Japanese licensors. |

There's 3 minutes of new scenes added in 1.11 and there's some edits. The video quality is supposed to be a lot better in 1.11, as well. |

He's quite serious 1.01 is more or less of a touch up on the movie (dark images become slightly brighter and visible and you can actually see Unit 1 at night!).
1.11 is an even better quality given the fact that it is blu-ray. The dark images from 1.01 are enhanced further and you can actually see more destruction during night scenes. The movie is also tweaked a little in dialogue and an additional 2-3 minutes of new footage is added in the first 15 minutes.
Hope this clarifies how Anno is slowly milking us out of our money. Please be prepared for the 1.99 to be Boxed with the Ultra Directors Cut of the 4 movies after they too have been re-worked into a slow perfection |
