Have you not seen his, well, other works? They might be a good reference.

If this means the show is going to be very well animated and fun I am in. There is no guarantee this is going to be a GREAT show but we need a little more quality in the medium to my opinion.

Wow. And people say I'm incendiary.
Anyway, looking forward to this. Watanabe hasn't had a chance to really stretch out for a while. But this is going to be a real test for him, and an enormous amount of pressure is going to be on for him to perform. I don't envy his position.

I don't know about that I do know that he said that he is creating a comedy series at Bones. That is the second show that ANN is trying to confirm. |
Wait so he's working on two shows at the same time?? Either way Yutaka Nakamura is back where he belongs. Under the guiding light of watanabe to animate more iconic fight scenes instead of good fights in a crap show *stares at darker than black season 2* |
Well according to the site,Shinichiro Watanabe said that the project that is worked in Bones studio will be released somewhere in 2013 and MAPPA project in 2014.But as we see Masao Murayama said that the broadcast timeframe of the new series has not been decided. So yeah.

I hope for an action series this time too.

Fantastic.
Watanabe is too talented to be doing adaptations. (As I understand it too, he's been trying to get an original project off the ground for a while and hasn't been able to). |
Completely agree.

Definitely good news. I think he did a good job with Kids on the Slope, but, yeah, a longer series would be scrumptious!

Woot woot! My curiosity is peaked just as much as my excitement is.

I’m glad that MAPPA will give him a chance to make something original. I liked Kids on the Slope plenty, but I’m most interested in seeing what the director can come up with from his own mind....
I can’t resist hoping that he gets some of the Cowboy Bebop staff back for this. It’d be especially nice if he could get Keiko Nobumoto back in the saddle as a writer; she’s been pretty quiet for a long time, which is a pity, because she’s very good at what she does. |
I totally agree, and yes, I hope she's on board.

While I enjoyed his adaptation of Kids on the Slope, Shinichiro Watanabe is best at directing original works. Personally, I think he has so much creativity, style, and flair that his skill can only be expressed fully within works he created himself.
I'm curious; will this project be in 2014 or 2013? I heard on another website (sorry, it's in Spanish) that he was working on an original project in 2013 for BONES: " a space-travel action comedy”. |
"
Just want to clarify, That info comes from Deculture.es (in spanish, sorry ):
Quote: | Aún sin desvelar el nombre de ninguno de estos anime, Watanabe nos ha comentado que uno está siendo preparado junto al estudio japonés BONES. Será [...]una comedia de viajes espaciales. (It will be a space-travel comedy) |

Can't wait to see what the future holds for Watanabe. Hopefully, at least one of his two series will become an anime classic. I'm personally exited about a space travel action/adventure comedy.

That would be awesome, I'd love to see her get to do a new series!
