Gotta ask... when you say lacks basis in reality, do you mean that they never actually get together or that there is no romantic tension between the two? I know fangirls sometimes fabricate relationships with pretty thin threads, but I always thought Kaworu's feelings toward Shinji were apparent. He even kisses him in the manga.

I'm not trying to start any sort of angry forum battle, just wondering what you meant. You obviously seem to know a lot about the series.

If I had to guess why they can't become an "official item", spoiler[it's because Kawrou, as the enemy, keeps dying. Most likely, he's gonna die in Rebuild as well.] And it's kinda hard to love someone spoiler[when they're dead. And no, not like that.]

Hahaha, you have to be in some really deep denial to say that this ship has "nope, no basis in reality at all".
