I'm so disappointed that Kokoro Connect is doing poorly. I understand that the whole public relations disaster is killing sales; the show itself was much better than last place. I really enjoyed it, and it's a shame that fewer people will see it because of its impending obscurity.
The other five I saw this season seem to be in about the right place, though I'm not sure how rewatchable Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita is. That's the last one I'd be getting on disc, though I would consider recommending it depending on what else a person had liked. |
Kokoro Connect wouldn't have really sold either way. Pre scandal, it was projected for like 3500 sales... typically otaku shows that go the way of drama (like Pet na Kanojo this season) do bad in sales, unless its the crying type of drama like Key or Ano Hana.

Dog Days already had a large fanbase to draw from since its the new original series from the Nanoha creator... and Nanoha fans are some of the most loyal out there. So after that, all they needed to do was make a good show, which I believe they did. Its got lots of cute characters, great animation, good battles, fun and lighthearted, etc. Basically everything I like out of anime all in one series.

Haven't seen Muv-Luv, but Dog Days' and YuruYuri ♪♪ are light, fun, enjoyable and play to their fanbases without being excessive. Dog Days' is consistently light-hearted and friendly and relaxing; YuruYuri ♪♪ is consistently funny, surprising and delivering of its eponymous element: light/easygoing yuri.
In short, they're enjoyable, well-done and their concepts in the first-place are appealing to their target audiences.

I, too, think it deserved better than last place - which, incidentally, it indeed seems to be getting - but it was hardly anything special. One of the season's better, though.
