| Given how I loved Brittney Karbowski's role as Ayu in Kanon and enjoy fanservice, these are reasons enough to watch it if I decide to. | ||||

| IMHO this is one very skinny bone to satiate mecha fans, an OK series with definite storytelling problems and people just remember it because its OP and Ed are homages to Mobile Suit Gundam and Mazinger Z and the songs are catchy, but either of those series would whet my appetite more than J:E, heck something like Shin Mazinger Z would be an exquisite banquet compared to this. | ||||

| This series is actually pretty light on the fanservice. ANN's image of them changing is about as far as it gets and it's not even in the show |

| Wouldn't the dub have been ADVs work, And really i don't remember that much fanservice unless your a mech nut.
-Gabe, who happens to be a mech nut |

For some reason, I just got satisfaction knowing just how disappointed you're about to become over this series. |

| lol Wait! I think spoiler[Akao was naked (but covered up) at one point after being taken by Shiva. And there might have been a kiss between the two. And I think both of them went skinny dipping for whatever reason at one point. All in the same episode. I guess there's Aoba's panties in the first episode?]
And then there's Mel's outfit. I think that's about it... If that's enough for 13 episodes, then I guess you can say that there's fanservice. But geez, that still can't save it from those episodes from the second DVD. Seriously, I had Wikipedia up to keep track of who and what. |

You forgot about Aoba's panty shot when she enters the cockpit for the first time. |

| Ironic, I just started watching this subtitled. Having a hard time finishing it, after finally making sense of what the hell is going on(well, a little bit) it's just so...bleh. I've seen worse, but I've definitely seen better. Not really a heavy fan service title nor is the mech action that great, it's hard to give a good reason to watch this over other titles. | ||||

| I remember watching this when TAN UK was airing it. If it wasn't for the little fanservice there was, it would have been like watching grey paint dry. I gave up on it after 4 eps. (Jinkis Scubb! Reah! rotal rap Raphne! ) |

| This is a great series, that gets no respect for some reason. Sure there's a little fanservice (very very little ), but it's not anoying or anything. It's a great little mecha series that I think went over everybodies head a little or something. Because other then that I have no idea why it's such an unknown show. Sure they condensed two manga series into just 13 episodes, but they handled it well enough. Not a masterpeice by any stretch, but I LOVED the storytelling, with all the time skips and different locations and characters. Oh and spoiler[ It opens with the LAST fight of the series, great planning there. That's pretty cool if you think about it ] Plus Venezuela is a great original setting. I'm not sure why no one likes this, or talks about it at least. It's a solid series, with cool characters The dub is great too. ADV really did wonders with it. Brittney Karbowski as the lead spoiler[ Well one of the leads |

I remember seeing this one as a free episode in a Newtype issue. I also remember thinking is a completely ludicrous piece of fiction too! No, I don't mean the show itself, I mean the concept of a 14 year old girl that actually LIKES robots and BUILDS models?! :O I thought 14 year old girls only liked writing, drawing, and thinking about Yaoi! Then a year later, I came upon an actual small community of young teenage girls on Deviant Art that actually DO like robot shows and buy the toys and models and everything! And I don't mean Bishy favorites like Gundam Wing, either, I mean GaoGaiGar, Getter Robo, the good stuff! Then the online anime community as a whole ignored Shin Mazinger and my hope became depression again... -_- But getting back to the topic on hand...
I don't remember being too impressed by the first episode and looking at the screen shot ANN has up now, it doesn't look any different than any of the other Moe-fests that everyone seems to love... :\ I never got around to seeing more of it... I SUPPOSE I could give it a chance... Still, I have to agree with Viscerr.... This is slim pickings compared to what we COULD be watching. [POKE FUNIMATION WITH A HARD STICK] HEY, FUNIMATION! IT'S CALLED SHIN MAZINGER! It's 26 episodes of PURE AWESOME with obviously more to come! Since you're picking up ADV's slack, how about the Mazinkaiser movie while we're at it and you can even reuse ADV's voice cast (though, I'd recast Shirou...), all you have to do is not screw up the attack names like ADV did! .................. I'm also still waiting on Galaxy Railways 2! You gonna publish that anytime before the sun dies?! ... [SIGH] Sorry... It's been building up...
Edit: Okay, rewatched the first episode. It was okay. Not bad. Caught a couple of visual cues to the original Gundam and the 08th MS Team. Kinda odd seeing them use a Real Robot against a Mechanical Monster; that's usually not a winning equation. But at least it has the Protector Shade quality of GaoGaiGar. I suppose all in all, there's potential... And I'm just waiting for someone to tell the poor girl that her robot was made by a close personal relative, as is the typical cliche. :p I guess I did like how thrilled she was over seeing the robot the first time... I think I'd have the same reaction! Still... Will she EVER reach the hot blooded heights of Noriko Takaya? http://www.youtube.com/ |

| RedLeader: This anime was made by old school mecha fans. There's more then a hanfdull of references and nods to oldschool mech in the serie. Hell even the opening and ending are done in the style of older mecha anime series |

I just saw the second episode and I see what you mean! The opening takes quite a bit from the original Gundam opening and the ending...! That's DEFINATELY Mazinger Z! And the episode itself had a little Shinji/Gendo thing going along with SURPRISE, Aoba's a Newtype! :O I suppose if they post more episode I'll watch more and I'll see from there if the DVDs are worth buying. |
