I don't know the actual sales figures for this week, but Bakemonogatari Vol. 1 total BD+DVD sales have now probably surpassed Gundam SEED Vol. 1 (71,081), taking the #2 spot in TV anime sales. It was only about 500 behind last week. However, it's very unlikely to take the #1 spot, Gundam SEED Destiny Vol. 1 (80,635). That record will probably still stand for quite a while.

.... I had no idea SEED and Destiny were #2 and #1 respectively.

Wow. I thought those didn't do well in Japan, lol.

Gundam SEED Destiny Vol. 13 is the number 1 spot, with 95,544.

Did you ever check their ratings, here, at ANN? Mecha is supposed to be one of the less popular genres outside Japan, but they still got those ratings. Now, think about how popular the mecha genre is within Japan.

Either way, good to see Gundam 00 ranking that well, again.

so what is the short name for Bakemonogatari anyway?...

I thought the first press of Bekemo was limited anyway, meaning they won't go above a specific level this round. On the other hand this just makes me want it on to R1 the more, like some forlorn fanboi. I'll have to hope good luck with that...

"Ghostory", perhaps? That's what the opening says. But I guess "Ghostory" sucked so bad they decided not to make it official.

Ah, you're right. Thanks for the correction. So I guess Bakemonogatari Vol. 1 will end up at #3.

The opening doesn't say that. A certain fansub group did add that in though.

Really? There was another fansub calling this show "Ghostory" so I just took it for granted. Good to know, though. That name doesn't fit the greatness of the series.

The name translation is somewhat accurate though.

It's a combination of the two words "Bakemono and "Monogatari"

So just like the "mono" is shared in the Japanese, the "st" is shared in "Ghostory".

I found it creative at least.

The abbreviation I've heard is Bakemono.

Nice list this week.
