| Awesome article! All great manga! I am still wishing someone would finish printing Swan in English. It is so beautiful and intense. |

| Quote: | | he gang's passion for absurdly superpowered characters beating the crap out of each other reached its peak with X, the story of approximately six million hot young psychic warriors and their efforts to blast ragged holes in each other. |
About that death, it was more disturbing in the manga considering what happens to Kotori's body. I also think that Fuuma is a better character in the manga as he still shows a gentle side before his actions and is more determined to grant wishes. For example, before making an earthquake, he talks with a little girl about how she loves her mum and tells her to leave before he makes a disaster was one of the best scenes I've seen involving a villain. If only CLAMP could continue with X's publication we could know what is Fuuma's real wish and why does it involve Kamui. |

OMFGOMGOMGOMG! Banana Fish has finally been mentioned in a House of 1000 Manga article! Woot! Knew it had to be as soon as I saw the article title. Now it just needs a full article because damn if it doesn't deserve one! Or two. Or ten. I'm totally still waiting on a full article so that I can gush over every inch of it! I should re-read Banana Fish, it's been a couple years I think. 5 times just isn't enough. Sometimes in my dreams, Viz is being awesome and reprinting this (and Basara and PSME too I'd assume) and I'm eagerly going to the store to buy it. I'm not even lying here, I seriously have dreams in which I am buying Banana Fish omnibuses despite already owning the series. For some reason they have color pages despite this manga clearly not having any.
I don't think Fruits Basket needs to be badass, it's too busy depressing the hell out of its audience to have time for that. |

| Ceres, X, and Swan, all mentioned in an article about badass shoujo. Yessssss. Now if only CLAMP would finish X...and if only someone else would pick up CMX's lost license to Swan and finish releasing it... I can't even find *spoilers* to how Swan ends, let alone a copy of the last volumes on the internet. |

Banana Fish: Aww yeah! Nothing says gritty shoujo more than the rise of a NYC gangster battling for street supremacy!
Recently been looking for older copies so I actually knew about this manga before reading the article (which is rare).
Why this was never given an anime (or at least an OVA) I will never know.
I still need to finish X and Ceres. |

Eh, I just don't see how Swan fits in here. Sports, yeah, but it hardly falls under the whole machine gun/motocyle intro you started out with, which most any of Kaori Yuki's stuff would fit under it, as well as a number of Karumi Kakinouchi's titles (Juline?) Fuyumi Soryo's ES: Eternal Sabbath? Chie Shinohara's Red River/Anatolia story? There's plenty of action going on in shoujo be it martial arts or guns or psychic powers.
Just not feeling the Swan. But hey at least there's a lead in for a sports in shoujo focus in the future. I agree with the other four though. |

| I wasn't expecting Swan to appear on the list but Larissa's 32 doubles was definitely the first "badass" moment that came to my mind from the series. Great quote from Leonhardt, too. I didn't really like the guy but he made a good point there. |

Banana Fish.
A title I've always wanted on my shelves. The price of entry at this point is too high. If I want to read the final volume (19), i have to spend over $100. Just on that last volume. (on top of $30+ for volume 8 and around $50 for volume nine). All in all, if I want this entire series on my shelves I would end up spending around $400. I wish I could justify this, but i can't.
*sadness*
As much as I applaud the choices in the column, none of these titles are easily available, or in their entirety. I have no delusions that these will ever be re-printed. DMP's news this week makes me even more depressed.
At least I still have Heart of Thomas to look forward to.... |

Wow, my favorite mangas in one list! Ceres is definitely my favorite Watase work, it’s so chock full of tragedy and interesting ideas. I really found Ceres to be a fascinating enigma of a character. X is my favorite CLAMP manga (not anime), and I have to admit that the “badass moment” was more tragic than “HELLS YEAH!” but then, the whole manga is dark and depressing. He also kind of had a reason to kill her. It was prophesized. Never read Swan, but The Red Shoes is, incidentally, my favorite film since childhood, so I guess I should check it out?
Finally, MY FAVORITE MANGA OF ALL TIME, Banana Fish, made the list. Every single volume is dripping with badassery. Ash is badass personified! And even Eichi turns out to be pretty tough in his own way. Not to mention some other interesting character moments…Charlie has some good ones. God, why is this not an anime? |

| Although "Banana Fish" may be set in America,I don't think I'd like it too much. The content isn't for me and I'll simply leave it at that. |

| Other than as a doujinshi, it's a shame that CLAMP can't just self-publish the ending to X. |

| Super happy to see Banana Fish in the article. The manga still makes me tear up especially in the epilouge. |

*sadness* | This, all of this. Banana Fish is one of those titles that, should it ever get rereleased, I'd be buying in a heartbeat but playing catchup at this point is well beyond my budget. |
