Yep, that's everything the magazine said. Neutral

Wait... I think I'm missing something: One Piece was one of the inaugural series... right? And it's still running? Right? Or is the whole thing about the skipping chapters means it doesn't count that it's still running... other wise I'm confused...

Correct! It's still running in the mag. They just pulled off a Naruto to catch up with the Japanese version. The January issue starts the Impel Down arc. The December issue gave us a general outline on what happened in the chapters/arcs that they skipped.

Well, it's still running, and it should definitely count. I see what you mean though, there's a line there that makes it sound like One Piece finished when it only skipped ahead.

Yu Yu Hakusho is the last of the original five manga titles from the very first issue of Viz's Shonen Jump to run its entire length.

I think "last" means that it'll be the only one that'll actually run its whole length, since One Piece won't be able to do that.

Ugh, GX should've ended when it first came out, but there's an actual fanbase for that bastardization. You missed the original YuGiOh ending in SJUSA, too. Mad Yeah, I know they skipped an arc on that one, but it's generally been a mainstay at that mag. Also, I was hoping Bakuman would be in the next issue. Crying or Very sad

I'll admit, I am surprized that Yu Yu Hakusho is ending, but knowing Yoshihiro Togashi, the ending will be quite interesting.

As for One Piece, the latest arc is exceptionally, top of the line awesome. I've enjoyed every single chapter and the battles continue to be beyond awesome.

I hope this means Viz is gearing up for Bakuman! I can't wait for it to Debut! hopefully the next catch up will be for BLEACH since they are like 12 volumes behind!

Bakuman has become one of my favorite Shonen Jump series, so I do look forward to reading via physical copy. A great read for anyone that has a interest in slice of life gene.

As for Bleach, the anime is exceptional, as is the manga. So I don't mind waiting for the manga to catch up. The only difference in my opinon is that the anime has much more humor. Eventually though, the manga will catch up though.

The January 2010 issue makes it seem that Viz is dropping GX to either include R, or the new 5Ds manga. Since they'll have tonnes of news in the upcoming months.

Yu Yu Hakusho ran in Shonen USA all the way through, from beginning to end. Everything else has either had partial runs before it was dropped, or like Naruto (that actually wasn't an inaugural story) and One Piece now, have leapt forward in the story to catch up to current times. So these two manga, while being around for a while, don't share with Sandland or Yu Yu that started when Shonen USA started began and finished there.

The new title is a cuisine manga? Unusual choice...I'd have gone with one of their GN exclusive titles, like Gintama or Reborn, both of which have big anime audiences on Crunchyroll.

With YuYu Hakusho and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX leaving, everything in the magazine will finally be relevant. Naruto and One Piece are now pretty close to their Japanese release, and they have two Jump SQ series: Ultimo, which is incredibly close to the Japanese release, and Tegami Bachi, which isn't that close, but is still a relatively recent series. Bakuman and Toriko are both pretty new series, as well. Bleach is the only one that's a little behind, and even then, not terribly so, but I predict a Bleach speed up sometime next year.

It's too bad about Toriko, I was looking forward to following it in the magazine. I REALLY hope they don't try to put in another Yu-Gi-Oh, and instead devote the rest of the page space to Bakuman and the rest. And if they are gonna put in another Jump series, I rather they put one in from the beginning, rather than jumping in midway through something like Gintama or Reborn. Although, this would be a good opportunity to put D.Gray-Man in the magazine, since it's a monthly series now, and the volumes are gonna take longer to come out. I could also see them putting Rosario + Vampire season 2 in the magazine.

GX was pretty close to Japan's releases. The series is monthly in V-Jump IIRC. Viz has released 4 manga volumes in the US so far (#5 for October), Japan has just done 6. It's currently running alongside the 5Ds manga.

None of the SJA titles you all are suggesting will be in the magazine for the simple reason they're T+.

Also, Toriko is only going to be in 3 issues. "New Series! 3 Issue Preview!" -SJ page 406.

Can't wait for Bakuman, in the magazine or not.
