As much as I'm usually a stickler for keeping original Japanese names to things... Dear heavens that Gay's Anatomy title is brilliant. I've always liked smut with a sense of humor that can even pun a title.

I am actually upset about this news. I have 3 of the supposed to be 6 volumes of akihabara@DEEP. I loved the drama and the live action movie so I really wanted to read and own the manga.

I hope this doesn't mean Akihabara @ DEEP will have no proper ending here in the states.

I've been trying to find vol. 1 to get into the series for forever. Crying or Very sad Now I'm nervous if I do, its final vol. will end up never coming out.

Please respond, Media Blasters.

Yeah, it's just as good, if not better than All Nippon Air Line. I don't care for BL, but some of those titles crack me up.

Second. I vaguely remember reading somewhere a quote from an MB PR rep who said that Eiken was hugely popular, so I'm pretty sure the last six volumes will be along eventually. Also, your name; it's familiar.

So is this the new thread where people who don't read BL make witty comments about something they've never seen? Great. Rolling Eyes Anyway, I'm disappointed as I was waiting for Drawn to Him. Hopefully someone else will grab the licenses eventually (yes, even Gay's Anatomy).

I don't even need to look past the titles to figure one of the reasons the titles were canceled. The other reasons are probably financial

Actually yaoi is supposed to be a fairly steady seller. The problem is the market is flooded plus the recession, so like many of the other smaller companies, we've seen some yaoi publishers vanish while others scale back. I recently received In The Walnut which I ordered way back around 2006. MB put all their manga on hold months ago so this is old news. Most of it has been indefinite at Right Stuff for months. Other titles the street date comes & goes, then they get new street dates.
Tough times.

I bought the first volume they released-not actually that bad-

Quote:
Dreamy neurosurgeon Tsuda is in a passionate relationship with fellow doctor Shiraishi. But when a steamy new patient shows up and wants to play doctor with Shiraishi, their love is put to the test!

So I have this volume ordered if it ever makes it out.

Quote:
Time for another check-up at Tokyo's hottest hospital! Discover how a scandalous secret sex tape led to the steamy romance between dreamy neurosurgeon Tsuda and fellow doctor Shiraishi!

It's not "gay"
It's Harlequin Romance with 2 guys instead of a girl & a guy. Yeah, there are some incredibly wonderful stuff out there (Est Em is less sex, but emotionally jarring) & there's the fluff. MB seems to go for the smuttier stuff which runs more fluffy, but they have Yamane's Crimson Spell which is beautiful.

I was waiting for Drawn to Him because I like that sort of title where one of the characters is an artist or a writer as in Junjyo Romance. This coming from MB means it's probably not anywhere near Junjyo, but I've liked a majority of their yaoi titles.

Quote:
Tomoki was specifically requested by Tougo Tsubaki, popular romance novelist, to do the illustrations for his novels. Tougo calls it "inspiration" and seduces Tomoki. A love that started from sex...! His heart is racing and his body is so hot!

All Nippon was cute. I have the alternate slip cover also (with the initials on the plane. Thank you DMP!). It's an airline that only has male stewardesses so it's their various situations. The thing with yaoi is there is a segment of it that is specifically humorous like Gravitation & much of it that runs to humor is also low on sex. All Nippon, Nakagami's, etc have more humor than explicit sex & I really enjoy the humorous ones. A not uncommon theme is the couple who have never managed to consumate their relationship due to outside forces interrupting

But back on topic, since I place the order in November, Wintertime Love, Because of Love, & Drawn to Him have all seen Date to be Determined pop up as date available. Fujoshi Rumi has 12/12/12 for its release.
The story's pretty much the same all over. I ordered the box set for Utawarerumono DVD Complete Series - Viridian Collection last August when it was due out in March & now it's coming out in October. I have a couple DMP titles on order still from 2008. I ordered Sohryuden as soon as TRSI put it up from Del Rey & now my order reads On Order, but if one clicks on the title, it's No Longer Available for Purchase.

With a title like that, it's bound to get comments. At least some people are being polite about it, I've seen much worse comments than these.

It's like that movie, How to train your dragon. That title can be quite misleading for several reasons.

True, but actually I wasn't rolling my eyes at the people commenting on the ridiculous title-- even BL fans groan/chuckle at a lot of those, so I apologize for not making that clearer. I was referring more to the, "No wonder, who buys this filth?"-type comments. Especially since, as CCSYueh mentioned, BL manga generally does pretty well for itself so I guess the answer is, "More people than you think."

P.S.

I think it's fundoshi, if I remember correctly. That's what it looks like to me.

Sorry guys, but last time I was at the RareFlix store I was able to talk to some of MB's higher-ups, including John Sirabella himself, and they told me that Eiken's popularity dropped too much by the time they published Volume 12, so they most likely won't be finishing it up... They were licensing only 6 volumes at a time anyway, so they actually had the whole thing at any point.

Yeah, it's sad news, but it's something that happens.

You must be in denial. If two men are attracted to eachother, they are gay, i.e. homosexual. Of course, this is yaoi we're talking about, which is nothing but fujoshi daydreams, so in the case of yaoi, perhaps it is subsitiution. Rolling Eyes And the titles, Gay's Anatomy? It's a ridiculous title, but also one I find offensive toward gays.
