| This is really great! It's an awesome manga and it deserves both prizes. Waiting for the sequel! |

Yeah, I hope that he still has the strength to finish it. I also hope that this will spur D&Q to release more of his stuff (and other gekiga).
So, in light of these awards, hows about finally getting that Encyclopedia entry up? |

| Great to hear that D&Q have found success with his work- 60000 copies of all his books in english sold is pretty impressive. |

True. I believe that it took him 12 years to complete Drifting Life. Hopefully he manages to do the continuation. |

| this is totally brilliant news! i especially loved to hear about the best reality-based award -- not just giving kudos to international comics for being international, but picking this out as the cream of the crop. and a great release, too. kudos to Drawn & Quarterly, as well as of course huge congratulations to Tatsumi himself. =) |

A well deserved award. Its one of best manga I one, and definitely the heaviest too. A Drifting Life is the kind of manga that every fan should own, especially if they aspire to create their own manga, but feel like the odds are stacked against them.
Gekiga is one of my favourite genre now, thanks to him, Koike and co. I hope we'll see more of his work in english. |
