hey Luffy, nowadays I normally buy multiples of whatever it is that I'm being a fan of. And that's only because I'm some 500 miles by air from any "real" store. Anyway, when I bought that blu release new from TRSI in 2008 I had no idea that "OOP" was just an abbreviation for "royal pain in the ass!" So I only bought and still have the one. Sorry, that's all I got. |

I know for games during the PS1 and Saturn era they are very important. An obi-strip can add anywhere from $10-$20 value on a used title. |

| Amazon.com has posted preliminary placeholder listing with cover arts (Blu-ray / DVD Combo) for The Secret World of Arrietty. No release date and MSRP has been given.
As noted by DVDizzy.com, a U.S. release for The Secret World of Arrietty could possibly be released in June 2012. ![]() |

| What happened to the Koreans BDs that were announced alongside Madoka? Madoka is already fully released, so I'm surprised we don't have any info on the AnoHana ones. Unless the Italian release is really nice (which I doubt since it's sounds like it'll be a single collection), I'll just opt for the Korean ones when they eventually materialize. Though I'd really appreciate Funimation or NISA grabbing it. | ||||

| For the curious, here are some packaging shots and screenshots for the Saki S1 BD-Box (JP). | ||||

The Amazon.com listing is live now. The MSRP is: ($39.99 for combo; $29.99 for DVD). There is still no release date (though it wouldn't surpurise me if the release date is the same as the Japan "North American Edition" release of which is 6/20/12). |

| Thorsten has an entry detailing the first Fate/Zero box on his blog. Looks glorious. Wish my copy would arrive...I honestly could have done without the booklet :<
EDIT: NVM that. Just saw that WTK posted a link in the Aniplex thread. Uh yeah my bad. |

| So I finally joined the 21st century and bought an HDTV (Panasonic P42ST30; it's freakin' awesome), and I'll be buying a Blu-ray player soon to complement it. However, I hear there are certain issues with picture quality on some anime titles that have been released on Blu-ray. Are there just a few specific titles that have this problem and/or are there any general rules on which titles to buy on DVD instead? Or is the picture quality difference on these "problem" titles not much different from what I'd get on DVD? | ||||

| It's 4AM and I'm tired, so I might forget something; apologies in advance.
Reading reviews for titles is a rather obvious suggestion. Upscales, meaning titles that are sourced from SD material, are pretty much never worth upgrading from the DVD version you already own for picture quality alone; however, if you have a good home theater system, you still may want the blu-ray for the lossless audio. With pretty much no exceptions (though, trust me, there will be those who disagree) every blu-ray, including upscales, will be at least marginally better than any DVD because of compression artifacts that occur much more often with the MPEG2 codec used for DVDs. Whether whatever that difference in quality in any given title is worth the difference in price, is entirely up to you. |
