Justin: No offense, but do people ever confuse you for Jonathan Taylor Thomas? BTW, what's your opinion of Winter Sonata? Anyway, I hope you have better luck on ImaginAsian than ADV has with Anime Network. P.S. Don't take Harvey's dirty money, unless his Asian films are subbed and uncut.

No, I can honestly say that this is the first time I've ever been mentioned in the same breath as Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Maybe it's that picture Bamboo found -- that's from BAAF 2001, so I look a bit more grizzled now. Although, one time at AX I did have a group of 14-year-old girls that wouldn't leave me alone...

Haven't seen Winter Sonata, but some friends have recommended it to me, so I'll probably check it out eventually. Thanks for the well-wishes.

No argument here; they were excellent! Great job, guys! Razz

I definitely agree with Bamboo's comments on young Aaron Dismuke - he's certainly an upcoming talent in the dub universe. The fact that he's only 12 means that he will get better as he gains more experience. I mentioned in the FMA review a while ago that Dismuke's performance as Al is perfect, and I still stand by that comment. Also, kudos to Mike MacFarlene and Colleen Clickenbeard (FMA's ADR directors) for giving him the opportunity to dub a major character.

I completely enjoyed the ABe/Ueda interview. It's amazing what happens when two brilliant minds come together and create such beautiful and elaborate works. They're the reason why Lain and Texhnolyze are two of my favorite anime series.

I really liked this weeks interview with Justin Sevakis. I agree with alot of his opinions, particularly this one...
Quote:
Anime to me is amazing because the good ones can take completely surreal environments and situations—things that could never happen in real life—and just forget about those differences. It concentrates on telling a story about its characters. That's what I would love to bring to American cinema and television. I'm truly of the opinion that American popular culture is reveling too much in the super-realistic, and because of that, our imaginations have become lazy.

Im really starting to like this guy, I personally don't know of anyone who would admit things like this...
Quote:
As much as I hate to admit it, I cried longer and harder at the ending of that show than anything else I've ever seen in my life. I mean, I cried like a little girl being stepped on.

...but I truly regret how I've conducted myself in the past.If I could go back in time, I would kick my own ass.

Uncle Morty's Dub Shack, which is an awesome parody dub show.

Now that would be something to see Laughing

If they asked me if I thought the story was going to become interesting, I’d have to say I didn't know, because I don’t know what's going to happen. Fortunately, there are unusual producers who would accept these difficult and unusual circumstances and say, “Let's make an anime out of it!” so that’s how the project came to be.
I guess ABe must have a muse, if he was able to make such an excellent show from some random sketches he drew.

Bad news for the ragnarok manga reader, it seem that Mr Lee has no intention of continuing the series even though he made the excuse that if he has more time. Just seem to me he lost that desire since his online game has become overwhelmingly popular, why go back to doing the dirty work.

Great interview with Aaron Dismuke. Too bad ya'll couldn't have provided a picture of him.

ABe is becoming more of a god in my eyes as the days go by.

Chris Beveridge is pretty big. Shocked But he's still cool.

I was also really interested in the Dismuke interview, although frankly, I was into all of the interviews this time!

Err.. there are two threads for this topic right now.. they need to be combined. ^^;

Chris Beveridge is pretty cool, but why does he hate April Fool's Day? Did anyone read that message he posted on AnimeonDVD last Friday:

While it runs rampant elsewhere on the web, I would like to take a moment to remind them that our site will be free of these April Fools Day jokes, a "holiday/event" that I've never had any great love for. The forums are a bit more rampant with them but the main news page will be free of such shenanigans.

EDIT: I eliminated the first part of my post to reflect the merger of the two threads. Thanks for doing that, mods! Wink

There are currently at least a total of 17 voumes released in Korea. Tokyopop has only released 10 of them stateside. There should be at least 7 more volumes coming our way (at some point). We should be able to at least look forward to that.

That's what I'm thinking; if you've ever seen the very first Haibane doujinshi, it pretty much was just random drawings. I remember reading a different interview with ABe, and he said that he started the first doujinshi (which had little to do with the actual series or the other doujinshis) simply because he wanted to further his skills of drawing females. Then they ended up with halos and grey, flightless wings. ABe's quite an interesting man.[/i]

And where did you get information that there was 17 volume in korea. It's still listed at 10 in the manga coparison chart over at AoD and I haven't' heard any news beyond volume 10.
